Author Amish Tripathi Chronicles Sita As The Real Modern Woman

Amish Tripathi, author of several bestsellers that have been translated into 19 Indian languages and eight foreign ones, in an exclusive interview to NDTV talks about his new book. It is the third book in the Ram Chandra series, titled Sita, the warrior of Mithila. His version of Sita, he says, epitomises the modern woman. She is strong, fierce and suave, he says, adding, if we worship Durga, Kali and the mother goddesses, why not Sita? On curbs on creativity and the debate around nationalism, he added that the discourse on Twitter doesn't represent the Indian ethos and while several extremist views may exist, the common Indian is a liberal at heart.

Loved his reply at 13:22 . Even the dumb anchor looked at camera with smile. She probably realised that he's out of her league verbally & intellectually. Such a relief to look at her defeated agenda & face.

There are some journalists (or perhaps TV anchor is a more appropriate term) at NDTV who love to play the spoilt sport. Amish did a brilliant job.

When I saw the cover page, I just astonished to look the way Sita was portrayed. Im a nonfiction book reader. The cover page and the title tempted me to take the book and I started reading it. Sita - The warrior of Mithila - The title sounds brave. It is a unknown and untold angle about Sita.

Controversy or not this anchor just wants to raise one. You could see that fiendish smile on her face and the greed for a mistake by Amish. NDTV is definitely anti-national at all levels.

You are being stupid now..Rama was not kidnapped, Sita was..If Rama was kidnapped by someone then Rama would have given agnipariksha.. When you are king of the kingdom then you should be careful about who is the Queen of the kingdom..

@Shreya Chakraborty rama never doubted her..i am sure you must have seen or read the ramayana itself and not the propaganda pages on Facebook, twitter or Instagram.. The part was never in the original ramayana.. And sita was queen of the kingdom and so agni pariksha was for that.. Before that instance there was another case where a women get lost in jungle and for safety purposes she get shelter a home.. And rama said to husband you must accept her and there is no reason in leaving her

Although this book is by Amish Tripathi, my favorite modern-day author, I highly object to its basic idea. It depicts Ma Seeta, the wife of Lord Rama, as a warrior, a fight-lover, a woman with more-than-necessary sense of identity and unnecessarily additional sense of self-respect. Was Seetaji actually like that? No way. Although very strong from within, she was a very calm, peaceloving woman from outside. She was never interested even in quarrels (verbal fights) leace alone physical confrontations. The very idea of Seetaji, immediately creates an image of a lady, wishing to follow Rama like a shadow. Where does these ideas of a rather free-willed, independantly thinking, warrior-like woman come from? From a distorted imagination of a person, who wants to create controversy to sell his book, I suppose.

It really would have been a hard work for Sita’s pappa to convince Sita who at that point of time was so modern , to chose a guy as her life partner who can break a fucking bow . Lol power over merit , interesting ....
