“Every action you take is like a vote for the type of person you want to become.” “You do not rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.” “The results come naturally when you build the systems to drive them.” “Join a group where the desired behavior is the normal behavior.” -James Clear

James is very generous with his knowledge. Most authors dance around their book content to push you to buy their books. This guy just keeps on giving. Great spirit! Will def buy his book! Ooh the clutterbug comment felt like a personal attack Lol, tho there is the other important aspect of being a shopaholic as well. #AwareAndWorkingOnIt

I conquered the world all at once, and I did it with all these bad damn habits. I think the bad habits kept me in this fight over these years. Without them I'd never been able to have accomplished what I have.

Audible is not reading. Reading is a discipline of the mind. Listening to a book, if you did nothing else may increase your knowledge but the reasons you listen to a books is you want to do other things while your listen, which means you only half listen. Reading is a skill that keeps the mind exercised. If you don't do it you will loose the ability to do it.

Has anyone else ever noticed that when 99% of interviewers ask a question to their guests and receive a full, concise and compelling answer in return, they immediately go onto the next question without a second to acknowledge the actual answer!? This annoys me to no ends. They could say, "Yes, that's fascinating," or "I understand, very interesting," or "You are 100% right, I love it," but they don't say anything! It's odd, awkward and gets under my skin....anyone else? I was always taught in communication courses that a true conversation rests in the receiver, which means if the person your talking to doesn't acknowledge what you just said you might as well be talking to a wall.

I recommend reading the book if you want to find out more or borrow a copy from someone, it expands a lot on the topics here. There are things that are obivious but does have good advice, something to keep with you all your life, no point buying tons of productivity books.

What resonates with you doesn’t necessarily resonate with someone else. Have you ever gotten advice from a friend that didn’t really click, but someone else said the same exact thing in a different way and the message got to you? That’s why there’s a number of people writing self-help/life improvement books. Personally, I find Brendan Burchard to be really try-hard, but I connect to what James Clear has to say, and in large part, it’s because he’s concise and pragmatic and offers direct solutions where Brendan likes to speak in platitudes. That’s the beauty of self-help: There is someone out there who can connect with anyone looking for a solution. I’m not going to begrudge anything that gets someone to do the work to get that much closer to a goal or become a better person. Maybe you should look inside yourself and ask why you do.
