I guess sometimes you might want to check some parameters on some other track while still playing the sounds on the one currently armed. But yeah, this feature shouldn't be hidden in some obscure text file, it deserves its place in the regular preferences for sure!

Sounds to me like this could be a formatting issue. Have you double checked the code line for any misspellings, missing spaces/symbols?

@@leajon9849 Under the "edit" menu. I prefer "cmd + z" for undo / "cmd + shift + z" for redo. If you want to assign them to buttons on your MIDI controller, you can use a custom script: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbCjm9tykr2nqWw.html

@@TheNeonSyndicate Cuando no estoy grabando la sesión mis pistas al seleccionarlas se arman sin ningún problema, pero cuando quiero realizar una performance y grabarla al mismo tiempo voy cambiando de pista o track pero si no la armo haciendo click en el botón de armado la misma no se arma...Tengo un Arturia Minilab 3 y con el knob que tiene me es fácil cambiar de pista pero al grabar todo pierdo esta opción, es decir que tengo que depender del mouse...

Understood. So the thing is, when you record on a track you've armed, that track is gonna stay armed until you stop recording. That means that if you record something and then try to switch to a different track, that new track won't get armed because you're still recording on the first one. So you have to make sure to stop your recording and THEN switch track and start recording anew there.

Hey there, using the Lite edition on this very tutorial so I can confirm it all works there, on mac at least. As far as Windows, you sure you put that .txt file in the right folder? Sorry to hear that. So seeing as ou get the "ignored" message, you put the file into the correct folder, which leads me to believe that there's some issues with the file itself. Did you double check that the code you input is correct? What text editor are you using?

Hmm, that's weird, it shouldn't be. Wasn't in my case at least! I'd try a reinstall. As far as the NoVstStartupScan thing, let me try it out and see what results I get

@@TheNeonSyndicate yeah, not sure! There is another file in the Preferences folder called Preferences.cfg (or maybe .txt, not at computer). Could that also drive preferences that don't appear in the GUI? Fun fact: I emailed support when on 10 to see if there was any faster way to map a control on every instance of, say, Sampler in a Drum Rack to the same Macro knob in the rack. The staff instructed me to put "EnableMapToAllSiblings" in an Options.txt file and my whole life got way better! I use that ALL the time, and now it's in the right-click menu standard as of L11. :) However I have never found a published definition of "Sibling" anywhere. It's not always obvious, in my experience. it would be great if there is a way to define a smaller group as siblings (like all tbe Tom's), and keep other instances of tbe same device out of that "family" (I should probably just ask the person who helped me ~20 months ago.)

Oh for sure! Being able to narrow down siblings would be a Heaven-sent! As far as the Prefernces file, that's just your standard preferences, the one you can get access to on-screen; if you delete that file, they will be reset to default. Which reminds me: could it be that you have a previous installation's folder still there? Maybe you've been placing your options file into that one, which would lead to it not having any effect on your current installation, and in your current installation's folder you somehow still have an older options file where ArmOnRecord is enabled so that that would be the default behavior. Just thinking out loud here @@JDDavid

@@TheNeonSyndicate Thank you for the advice. I will dig through the older folders to see if an options file is lingering there. I did make a new one in the most recent folder with only the "show device slots" option in it, nothing else. That did take after a reboot, so I see the nameless slots (still useful to quick switch devices on and off, if you can remember which order they are in). Would Live take instructions from more than one Options.txt file? By the way, I just learned how to make sibling groups. It basically is determined by which level of nesting the devices are in. If you have a dozen Samplers, and then another dozen Samplers that are in a simple rack, with or without any mappings, the racked devices will be an independent sibling group, and the non-racked will be so as well. A bit of a work-around but not hard. Just rack one device, and then option-drag it onto the drum slots where you want it. One step further would be to double-rack the racked devices to make another independent sibling group. Credit goes to Adam from Liveschool in Australia, who I had been emailing random questions to, including this one yesterday.. Their website is a great resource. liveschool.net

@@TheNeonSyndicate thnx for reply, I've got it working yesterday. It had something to do with some tracks in some (hidden) groups that were already armed. Works like a charm now! No worries ;)

It's a hidden folder called "Library", and it's in your user folder. Just press cmd + shift + dot to reveal hidden folders
