Thank you showing a different method of popping the hood I will definitely use this method to gain access to the battery !

Nice job Aurora! Not a fan of the rip or blitz method that has been taught forever. Typically if we are doing a side removal it's from a T-bone with significant intrusion. With that kind of compromise the rip method will be a 50/50 shot. Removing door-door-bpost gives you a high degree of success regardless of damage. I do teach cutting higher up on lower b-post to get above the seatbelt retentioner. This also leaves you a nice base for the RAM if you also need to do a dash roll.

It's usually pre-smashed up or cars where the cars repair price well exceeds the intrinsic value of the vehicle.

Great video! Regarding using the spreader to access the hood, are the trucks/cars that are sometimes equipped with strut openers a risk when doing that method? I suppose you don't know what's under the hood until it comes off, but any tips on mitigating that hazard?

Always Good stuff coming from AFD although I'll offer a humble observation, cutting battery cables needs to be seriously evaluated on a case by case basis. As we have been told in the last couple Auto X classes I participated in, Airbags in modern vehicles have capacitors that can hold a charge for quite a while ( I want to say up to an hour?) after main power has been disrupted meaning that the airbags can still deploy even after the battery cables have been disconnected or cut. Unless you have serious & legitimate concerns about the 12 volt system being a source of ignition or causing other problems I would probably skip de-energizing the vehicle.

The fire risk is why we where taught to cut the cable (each one in to locations and remove a piece so they can't reconnect with each other by accident. Airbags where never mentioned on our class as a reason for battery cable cutting at all

Isn't it a little unsafe to check for down power lines AFTER you touched the vehicle and went almost half inside to get the keys out

There is no reason to peal and peek the b post
@ace-pl4qh
@ace-pl4qh 2 жыл бұрын
Yes there is, especially on newer cars there are now airbags in the b post as well. Regardless it takes two seconds and assures you’re not going to blow your face off.

You are creating a false sense of fear around the airbags. An air bag will not deploy while a vehicle is not in motion unless you short the system. Don’t wanna short the system? Don’t push against the control module. Don’t push against any cables that shouldn’t be pushed against. And good luck maneuvering around a driver to do the interior rescuer stuff through the driver side window as you show. Poorly made video with horrible techniques being shown.

You’re kind of dumb. An air bag will most definitely deploy if you cut one of the pressurized cylinders or pyrotechnic charges that are used to deploy airbags. Not only that, but it’ll most likely blow your face off depending on how close you get to one of them, and where the tool is positioned if you were to cut one of them. When they talk about peek and pry they aren’t talking about looking for airbag wires it’s those cylinders and charges.

ah yes another keyboard warrior. believe it or not airbags can indeed go off at random especially when high damage has been dealt to a vehicle damaging the control module. please dont speak unless you know what your talking about! thanks, an actual firefighter.

@@therealderpgaming9369 proclaiming to be a “real firefighter” doesn’t make you one. Notice how I made mention of the control module and not damaging it or pushing against it? Didn’t think you did. Otherwise you wouldn’t be saying the exact same thing I did. Thanks for coming out though “real firefighter”. 😂😂😂😂😂
