I own and love an E39 530i manual Touring. It is my only car and I can't say I could think of a better one-car-package. It has all the amenities you need and none you don't. Beautiful steering and some power. Reliable enough to not worry but still "keeps me engaged with the hobby". It can fit 4 people with luggage in comfort on the Autobahn. Its beautiful to look at and gives me a smile every time I walk up to it. Also, I was able to afford buying it and thanks to an LPG conversion driving it loads. It's got 371k Km on the clock and I hope I can get it much,much higher in the coming years. Also, it's purple ❤

That car is a dream! Except I'd had a valved intake (or just open) instead of exhaust 😄 The "droop" setting on coilovers are to set so that the wheels don't rub the fenders when the suspension is bottoming out. usually tested without springs and then installing the springs afterwards 😁 But it can also be used for hight adjustment if the car is to be slammed with stance fitment.

I used to own a E34 540i 6 speed manual... and what a fantastic car that was. Only small thing I would do myself is have 2 tail pipes instead of just the one, but I think overall you have a car that's pretty much as good as it gets. I would even keep the old phone tech just as a laugh :) My dream is to get back into a E30 one day, but that's been a dream for some time now and I don't believe that's going to change any time soon. It makes me quite jealous to see you lot having so much fun with cars :)

My family had a 1995 540i sedan in Oxford green. I loved that car so much. And then it got rear-ended at a traffic light. That era of BMW was unbelievably good.

It's amazing how quickly the E39 Tourings have disappeared off the road. My 530i T was typical, rusted out rear inner sills and tailgate along with high costs elsewhere meant it was sold off for parts some time back. Of note is the large rear subframe bushes are hydraulic, they are filled with oil. Over time the rubber hardens and cracks and the fluid leaks out giving a harsh ride at the rear. Solid after-market bushings seem a bad idea for UK roads...

It is so good putting new shocks on an old car - the transformation is amazing.

I think it could do with a damned good thrashing round the Nürburgring to see if Misha approves & for science of course.

That bit of road going under the 339 where the back end kicked out is a pig, spun my 335i in the same spot and rolled perfectly backwards into the old park and ride.

Great video. What about a video on the valve stem oil seals on that engine? Apparently, they use oil because of this and it would be great to understand how big an issue it is.

I absolutely hate the sound of the exhaust when fully open, but the car... A true gem..and in a beautiful spec. I would be SO proud to own that. Taylor did VERY well picking this one up, and for such a low price too.. Damn. Having now watched it all: Taylor did well as the presenter imho. I like his less noisy style.

iiiiiiiiii LOVE the E39 5 Series, WOULD LOVE to own either a 525d or 530d (I ALSO LOVE the E30 3 Series, had a 325i SE in tidy condition, and LOVED it! Til the bloody cambelt went LUNCHING the engine 😫😫). I used to work for a security company that watched over a couple of yards that BMW stored their new cars in, and one time (just as that FUGLY jelly mold version - E60/61 - was being released) there was this midnight blue 530i specced with a white/cream leather interior.... MAN! THAT WAS LUSH! 👌👌👌 As for the 540i, I used to kow this guy Tony and he had a black E39 540i saloon with a trick exhaust and remap, I LOVED THAT TOO! 👌👍 😎🇬🇧

Me and e39 have complicated history... I absolutely loved e34, and when e39 came out I hated it... Gone were quad lights, gone whatever was left from shark nose front, it wasn't a bmw to me... But, face-lift, namely angel eyes headlights to be precise, made me love it in the end. Still, I'm picking e34 for my garage, she's the one and only!

I had a Black on Black '00 528I Sedan w/ the sport package , BBS Style 5s, and every option except Heated Seats here in SF Bay area, California. I miss that car !!
