Its Pinecone What the hell did you do to that car?
@ItsPinecone_9114 жыл бұрын
@@YellowstonesandFlies previous owner before me didnt take care of it. I bought it as a project car myself wanting to fix it and then race it at NOLA Motorsports Park but never got around to doing that. I managed to fix a couple things and drove it around town in the meantime. Just never has the time to do what this car needed. Im not sure how the transmission split. It did so while driving home from the bank one evening. Someone said it could have had a hairline crack in it from a shop possibly dropping it when I had it in for IMS work or when I had it in shop to replace flywheel.

Junky DIY Guy posted an excellent headlight restoration video that made my yellowing and scratched 996 headlights look brand new. I could not believe my eyes when I was done and I still marvel at the results. Sand paper, compound and polish. Save a ton of money over buying a replacement for the drivers side.

Guys, awesome to see this starting. I have a PIWIS II and think that just because the scanner didn't read any codes means nothing. Any codes could have been cleared prior to selling. Main thing I'd be worried about is bore scoring although the car lived in a hot climate right? That tends to help. Before you crank it over again since it's been sitting so long I'd be worried about fuel injector wash out in the cylinders. See if you can pull the fuel pump relays and crank the engine until oil pressure builds up to 2 bar and then replace and crank. Good luck!

Hello James, so excited to see more on this project. I'm completely in, so I've prepared my "wishlist" / "Work list" if I were part of the project (or if that 996 was mine) 2 major families : Mechanical & Aesthetical Mechanical jobs : Brakes : - Rotor and pads for front & rear - New brake lines (brake caliper part) - New brake fluid Chassis : - KW shocks absorbers + springs lowering kit - New & bigger sway bars - New motor mount's bushning - New lower arm's bushing (or full arms replacement like done by that 9 eleven Guy) Powertrain : - All fluid replacement (oil & coolant) - All filters replacement (oil, air, gas) - 6 sparkplugs - Replacement w/ The "New" old transmission - New flying wheel (maybe a lighter one) - New clutch - New clutch cylinder - Scart exhaust and carbon exhaust tips (quad round) for the sound !!! - 4 new tires Aesthetic jobs : Body : - Dent recovering - Side skirt (GT3) - Full paint job "Martini Racing" style ou "Gulf" style - 4 FUCHS 19'' wheels - Brake caliper paint job (Blue if Martini Racing, Orange if Gulf) - Ducktail - New headlight Interior : - Carbon door silplate with "Project 996" emblem - New dash gauge color to match car body - 2 GT3 seats fully manual (light is right 😁 ) - Door trim carbon & leather with body paint accent (colored carbon clear coat) - New media center with modern capabilities Here it is... So, guys, time for elbow grease 😉

These cars have very tricky to bleed clutches. After gravity bleeding, use a piece of 2x4 wood against the seat to keep the clutch pedal pressed all the way down over night. In the morning you should have a firm pedal that comes back up. The first time you have to pull it back up manually because of the clutch helper spring and the lack of reaction force from the pressure plate.

7:43 how did you tell the difference between the LN Engineering upgrade oil fed bearing and the simpler Direct Oil Feed kit? If the filter housing isn't upgraded to an older style replaceable oil filter can, it's probably the Direct Oil Feed. Both are good, but Pelican sold a bearing upgrade kit that was a lighter duty bearing that needed periodic replacement, so it could be good to make sure you don't have that. Be sure to get the cam locking tools and remove the correct tensioners before checking what's behind the IMS bearing cover!!!

@robertfreeburg35664 жыл бұрын
I'm a "value" guy. So I am guessing $5,500 - $7,500 for a non-running project car with these miles. Whether you include your sweat/time, it would be interesting to keep a running total of initial cost, shipping cost, and fair market value of all the materials used in the project. Possibly having 2 columns, cost needed to make it run and bring it back to a usable vehicle and those costs that are just fun and entertainment (wheel spacers ... etc.).

@@ItsPinecone_911 if the engine is running fine, but the oil pressure seems to give a faulty reading , then it could be the oil pressure sensor. It is on the right hand side of the engine on top, but it can be accessed from underneath with a crows foot socket and an extension. Easy fix if that is the issue.
