Been waiting on this one. Love the old school hotrods. There use to be a guy around here that had a Steel T-Bucket with a 427 Cobra jet in it. He had to put 6 foot wheelie bars on it to keep it from flipping. It was insane! I am sure it is still around Georgia somewhere. Matt.

Brake lines should be double flared. I know Michael is old school but modern safety standards calls for double flares. Looks nice though great bending work that stuff always messes with my head.
@paulneron375
@paulneron375 2 жыл бұрын
True on dat'. Your number 1, first most important part on your car is your brakes. Second is steering. Double flair dem' bitches.
@danhigbee2283
@danhigbee2283 2 жыл бұрын
Double flare stops the flare from splitting. Master Cool hydraulic flaring tool is the way to go. Does single double bubble AC. Quick disconnect fuel trans and Oring tubing up to 1/2 in. A little pricey but we'll worth it. I've even have put a swell on tubing so when you clamp the hose it won't slip off

I'm old school and I've been doing double flares for 60 years, nothing modern about it. Lack of knowledge if you don't double flare brake lines.

T buckets have always been one of my favorites. My 1st one I got from a neighbor I did work for. He gave me a choice, money or a Bird 1921 mod.t kit. Being 15 I took the car. Between working for my father and picking up side work I made enough money to get a few parts each week and soon had a rolling chassis. The only thing missing was an engine. One morning my father told me he needed me to go with him to an equipment auction. I got bored and starting snooping around and came across an old welding trailer. The sign on it said the welder coil was no good, so I had to look. Inside the trailer WAS A 3 CYLINDER AIR COOLED DZEISE DIESEL!! That motor was perfect for that car. I could carry the front wheels in a car that got 52 mpg

Hey! Just a little hint for you. Your side pipes. I have built a couple of them. My advice is to make a bracket to support the rear of the of the side pipes because over time if you don’t support them they will crack somewhere in the bends. Just saying.
@LastBastian
@LastBastian Жыл бұрын
Ooh... I hope not. I have the exact same pipes on mine. It was built in the 90's. ...no problems so far. Just have to remind non-car people not to try stepping on them when they're climbing in or out of the car! Lol

Randy: on those two buckets remember the old adage, that's the equivalent of strapping a V8 in a roller skate. Keep your speed in check and always have enough room between you and the traffic around you to get that thing shut down and stopped, other than that stay cautious have fun and enjoy it 🙃🙃 ..

I think that upward kick bend about midway down the brake hard line (visible at 25:20) is likely why you're having such a hard time trying to bleed your brakes. Air bubbles always rise to the highest vertical point in the system and that bend is basically acting as a "trap" not allowing trapped air to travel down the line to reach the bleeder.
@outinthesticks1035
@outinthesticks1035 Жыл бұрын
Used to work in a school bus repair shop . We had a power bleeder with a 2 gal reservoir , put 30 psi air in the top and it would drive any air past a high point

I built a Total Performance kit many years ago with a chevy 355 and a BDS 8-71 blower, built turbo 400 on it. If you will take the time and learn how to drive it you will fall in love with it. To make a sharp U-turn you just need to learn how much to blip the throttle and it will flip around easily and under control. If you scared of it and not willing to learn how to drive it, then by all means, sell it. Because of how much your body is above the seat and windshield that does make it a pretty unsafe car at high speeds. Learn some drifting skills though and you'll be amazed at what it can do driving around on short drives. There defiantly not a car for taking on a long drive though, there just a larger version of a procart with a 1000cc engine in it, but nowhere near as stable from turning over. Be careful, and enjoy it.

What , it weights nothing, no surprise that it would want to slip out from under you just straightening out of a turn. That is just one of the things that would make this a fun machine. If that's an ATK crate engine u should try amd see if u can find it in a catalog. Maybe you'll find some specs. Dial in that carb and forget about the EFI. U wont have fun tuning EFI units with a cam like that unless u know how to dial in fuel tables on your lap top trust me. Guarantee u play with the timming and adjust that idle and transfer slot and you'll love how it runs

I have a 709 wheel horsepower 1997 Honda Civic coupe that I built with my own two hands that runs 9s in the 1/4 mile and I'd give almost anything to have something like that (until it rains). There is absolutely NOTHING like a strong V8. My turbo 4 cylinder is fun because once that turbo hits full boost you can rev it out to 10,000 RPM and it stays in boost between shifts (and it's still torquey down low because it's a 1.8L DOHC VTEC Integra engine in a 2200 lb car), but there's nothing like having power on demand as soon as you peg that throttle. I've owned domestics before and I really miss it sometimes.
