This time in the AutoEdits garage we'll refresh and upgrade the entire brake system on the 1995 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 OBS truck with a set of Powerstop Z36 pads, cross drilled and slotted rotors and rebuilt red calipers!
A bunch of folks are commenting on the t-shirt I'm wearing in this video so I put that in the list at the link below as well...
Here's a link to the AutoEdits Amazon Store to get a look at many of the products used in this video:
www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits...
This would be a good spot to get information or go ahead and order some of these things!
Thanks so much for watching!
Don't forget to head over to

Love the Tahoe series!! Im sure you are already planning on it but would definitely like to know how all the newness works out. Particularly interested in the steering box as well as all the associated upgrades. 👍👍

Thanks so much dude! This thing drives better than I had even hoped... Yes I'll do a video after a few hundred miles but spoiler alert... So many things combined make a great driving experience. New rag joint, steering box, pitman, idler and the much better ball joints in the tie rods of that silly strong kryptonite stuff make it feel way more modern than I thought. On your amazingly clean and low mileage Burb, I'll bet your steering box (if it's not leaking like mine was) is probably fine with just an adjustment on the preload screw and a refresh of some of the other things would work wonders!

Love the video, It's about time the gmt400 trucks get some attention. On the k2500 side you can swap on the dually calipers wheel cylinder and consumables and it's a huge upgrade. between that and the z36 pads, my 94 burb stops unbelievably well. Cost wise, it's only about 150 buck more than a regular full brake job and you've replaced items that are prone to failure anyway.

I bought a 97 4 door Yukon 4 door 4x4 from my brother with 250k on the clock and I had a vision, and its the exact same thing youre doing with yours and I LOVE it! Its so nice seeing what a stock truck looks like with 35s, and you putting on the Kryptonite steering has me convinced! I am looking to build a camping/mild tow/adventure rig that will hold up to being driven on the street once or twice a week since I have a work truck with every tool I need (EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LIFE!) I watched the whole series, and am wanting more! Keep it up, brother!

Hey Jason, Thanks for the awesome content! You inspired me to pick up a 2000 Z-71 (OBS) Tahoe and did a bunch of upgrades / maintenance. The Tahoe only had 69k Miles and was TOO NICE to wheel, so I sold it and am now getting ready for "Tahoe II", a 1999 super clean, high miles 4WD. I plan on "AUTOEDITing" this Tahoe, same as yours (except 33's)... Thanks again for the ideas and how to info!

Looks good. From my years at Russell I will keep an eye on your front brake hoses where you have the zip ties. I have seen a number of GMT 400 houses zip tied to the a arms that have failed. It generally occurred when somebody bought a universal braided hose and adapted it. Personally I would like to see a shorter hose on your vehicle and no zip ties.

Pro tip on these 90s gm trucks with abs if the pedal is being a little weird and you have a abs light after running a part of the system dry get it all bled and done then when you see you have a problem you have to give the brake pedal a quick hard jab to re- center the proportioning valve inside the abs and that will accomplish it

Jason, did you ever consider (or research) the GMT800 spindle swap? Using the early (00-02) parts gets you the newer dual piston caliper and a slightly larger rotor. I believe the only modifications required are reaming one of the ball joints and flipping the tie rod. It also opens the world of the GMT800 aftermarket big brake kits.
@AutoEdits
@AutoEdits Жыл бұрын
I didn't know about this and it sounds like a great upgrade. I've been very happy with the performance of the brakes on this thing so far and don't really feel it needs that. Just doing a disc conversion in the rear is the next real thought for me.

@AutoEdits I just picked up a '00 Z71 Tahoe. It needs some work on the brakes, so I'm probably going to do all of the brake lines, hard lines included. Before I spend the money on the powers top kit I'm trying to see if the 800 upgrade is truly worth it.
