I think the thing that makes this even more impressive is the size of number 5's tires. He has the thinnest tires out there, meaning he probably has the least traction. He did a superb job of handling the bike and the race. Description translation from Google: Oval Super Battle in Kawaguchi 2015 Aoki Brothers Oval First Showdown! Haruchika Aoki (Auto Race) VS Nobuatsu Aoki (JSB) VS Yasushi Matsumoto (Motard) and 2 other cars 2015.12.13 1st mixed martial arts race held at Kawaguchi Auto Race Course

I suspect no.5 has more traction. His tire sidewalls may be wider, yielding a larger contact patch when leaned over, which explains his riding style of max lean.

Context: this is the Kawaguchi Auto circuit in Saitama. It’s a betting circuit…. Think greyhound racing but with bikes. The majority of the races are with the small Suzuki AR600 bikes the yellow jersey rider is on, but sometimes they’ll do special races like this where other bikes are brought in to show why these small AR600’s are king of the track. You can KZfaq “Japanese crazy motorcycle race” to see more of these in action.
