Why do I need to connect via cable as well as via bluetooth to have audio and the apps setup? That does not make too much sense to me. Once I have it connected via cable it should be able to pick up the audio stream and put it onto the speakers... A little bit disappointed...

I agree, consumers are familiar with their iPhones and Android devices which are mostly mirrored by Apple's Car Play or Android Auto. Why learn another interface? Furthermore, Apple has already announced that Apple's Car Play will work wirelesses in the next car models. Most of us only drive short distances to work and shopping, too little time to be plugging devises into ports to make them work when wireless would flow seamlessly through Bluetooth. Land Rover should stick to improving the elements of the car they know best and leave the communications devices to the experts who focus on making interfaces simple for the users. Most of the cars I get in, including Ubers and taxi's, have iPads, iPhones or Androids plugged into the dashboard power outlets and installed car navigation systems turned off. Listen to your buyers Land Rover.

i don't think it should be either Apple's Car Play or Android Auto. both those are only interested in your commitment to buying *their* products for *their* ecosystem. the ideal connectivity solution is something along the lines of CCC's MirrorLink whose ideology is to allow any user to connect any phone regardless of manufacturer.

This system seems inferior to the XC90, would you agree? I was considering downsizing to the Jaguar rather than getting the XC90 but this interface is making me think otherwise.

I don't think this is a practical solution. Bosch has to now convince developers to create apps for their new platform.... not gonna happen, especially when Apple CarPlay and Android Auto effortlessly dwarf it's user base.
