Anyways, I did a thing and restored my headlights.. And yaknow what, it worked reyt well!!

Great work, it turned out really well. Good on you for having a go, it is definitely one of those products that when you start off it seems scary as suddenly the headlight is completely frosted over. But as you saw, it clears as you work through the paper discs and then the polish at the end finishes it perfectly. If you haven't done the other one yet, check out our how to use video for a look at how the light should look after each stage for a guidance, it is on our channel Autoglym UK. Finally, where did you get that kit, eh? We're all dying to know...

They came out really well to be honest 👍. You could sent me a picture how they look on a dry day as water can give that illusion that it's cleaner. I've done a few headlights and to be honest not all of them you can save with just sanding and polishing. Some need a layer of laquer to fill the areas the previous layer had been removed through wear and tear. With my headlights I just sanded them for like 2 hours then sprayed clear coat on them. This was my first attempt doing headlights and they look as good as new plus clear coat is able to hide some permanent damage for example someone previously tried doing the headlights but burnt the plastic on one section however that's hard to see with the clear coat.

Mine need soemthing like this. Same as yours it's on the top of the lights where the "bubble" is completely cloudy. I tried the toothpaste trick and it worked really well but still, a tad misty. Great vid

Is it just me or does your headlights look pretty identical to the headlights on a Astra H ? Stunning results btw! I am currently waiting for the same restoration kit for the headlights on my Astra H :)

Cracking results buddy….. just purchased this product as my seat Leon has some really bad headlight surface problems. How do you know how far to sand when you start the first sanding process ?? Just didn’t want to cause more damage. Brilliant video and if man comes out somewhere near as good as yours I will be well happy 👍🏽😀

Great work and finish!! It just so happens I have the same model ford as you, The worst headlights design ever to come off the production line🤪 The bubble on the top of the lens are awkward to say the least, restoration in this area requires extra attention as its easy to burn the polycarbonate as I found out? There better sanding by hand!! I aways use a two speed cordless hand drill with variable speed, And as restoration kits go 3M is my choice as used by professionals, Of all other kits in the market 3m uses the correct grit sizes p500-p800 and a trizact p3000 trizact pad, Plus a certified clearcoat such as Maguires clearcoat with added UV protection, I believe today we have to many choices which makes it harder to pick which one is best to give clarity and shine + longevity🤔 But you can bet restoration will have tobe done again as nothing is permanent, If you intend keeping the car??😲👍👍

Come down to London and do my headlights Ross...but I think if you saw them you'd run a mile.....Will be fitting ST Graphics soon..

I did this to mine not that long ago but using the 3M Restoration Kit. Makes a massive difference doesn’t it.

nice job, btw who is Zane? and does he do headlight restoration professionally? I have a head light that is milky and ive tried sanding and cant improve wouldn't mind the opinion of a professional, to see if its savable.. its not a ST and the headlights are a lot, so would be worth investing in a proper job.

That's me 👍. I'd say I'm still learning doing headlight restoration but a few headlights I've done came out like new. It all comes down to the extent on how oxidised it has becomed. If its really hazy then you might need a few layers of clear coat to build up from the old layer which might be still there and to fill up any imperfections. On mine I wet sanded them with 1000 to 3000 grit then sprayed clear coat and they came out like new. My dad's car for example I sanded and polished however the hazy area was noticeable still little like how Ross one was before he polished it so I'd put clear coat on 👍. I’ve heard some people put a UV resistant clearcoat on after to preserve the finish so it doesn’t go misty again

I applied UV resistant clear coat on mine and after a year before I changed my headlights to the DRL one they were as good as new.
