This is the first real integrated test of the automated dust shoe that I've been working on for some time now. The shoe would interfere with the automatic tool changing and tool length measurement processes, which is why I had to actuate it so it can retract out of the way automatically.
I've seen simpler mechanisms for dust shoes which are attached to the spindle, but I'm a firm believer in having the dust shoe height set independent of the spindle - though it made this project much more complicated.
