Automated Trade Using RSI Crossover on ThinkorSwim

Today we’ll be going through the process of automating a portion of our trading using the thinkorswim platform. For this one, we’ll be using a fairly simple example, submitting an order to buy and sell the stock when there's an RSI crossover.

In this example we'll create an order to buy a particular when the RSI crosses above the 30 line, and then sell the stock when it crosses below the 70 line.

Do you know if I do a MACD Histogram crossover, crosses above 0 (negative to positive) and RSI >34, will it wait for both conditions to be true at the same time or will it let one trigger and then wait for the second to trigger?

Great broadcast, Is there a condition that can be set in the pre-stets that would only allow the system to sell at a profit or could there even be a study for something like that?

is there a way to set up a buy order only when it crosses the 30 level RSI the second time? So basically, ignore the first cross over and then wait for it to fall below 30 again and when it crosses it again a second time, then the buy order should kick in

Thank you! I wish you showed us the actual execution of this order using Papertrade, or OnDemand. Not sure conditions work on those settings.

So when you set an order to buy above 30 line, wont it buy right away where your rsi is on that chart? Or will it wait for it to go under the 30 and above it to buy?

no because the condition stated only trigger when it **CROSSES ABOVE** the 30 RSI line, not when the value is greater than 30
