Automatic changeover shifts to generator load automatically
after the absent of all three phases of mains and when the
generator is started. If any of the phase from mains side
returns the generator goes on no load condition and load
is automatically shifted to main section.
Magnetic Contactor
magnetic contactors are a form of electrical relay found on
most electrically powered motors. They act as a go-between
for direct power sources, and high-load electrical motors
in order to homogenize or balance out changes in electrical
frequency which may come from a power supply as well as to
act as a safeguard.
MCB Miniature Circuit Breaker
mcb are electric mechanical devices which are used to protect
an electrical circuit from an over current. It can be closed
without any hand-operated restoration. MCB is used as an option
to the fuse switch in most of the circuits.
Generator used for
in electricity generation a generator is a device that converts
motive power (mechanical energy) into electrical power for use
in an external circuit. Sources of mechanical energy include s
team turbines, gas turbines, water turbines, internal combustion
engines wind turbines and even hand cranks.

When main power comes back then also load will run on generator....main power contactor will not latch again...you have to add one relay which latch on main power and use its NC contact in series with main contractor's NC to latch/unlatch generators contactor and one on delay timer which runs on main power and use its NO contact in series with generator contactors NC to latch/unlatch the main contactor again......then it will be automatic.(priority should be main power) and also have to think about how generator will start at the time of main power failure.

Works in theory but not in practical case. Timer relay needs to be added in order to avoid generator receiving power from the mains. It can happen because contactors aren't perfect. They make a small time to switch state. Finally we have to figure out how to make the generator start/shuts automatically. I think best solution is to use a small plc with UPS

If u do not use a time delay in between the changeover, the circuit breaker may often trip. My practical experience.

Don't you think we need a mechanical interlock between the two contactors to avoid electric Sparks at the event when utility power comes back while the gen.set is running. Just asking anyway...

Menurut saya itu wiring masih salah, karena saat listrik padam kontaktor langsung membuka jalur genset tanpa menunggu jeda sedangkan genset masih kondisi start, alat listrik akan langsung short, karena tegangan dan frekuensi genset masih rendah.

There was a bad connection. Generator is not disconnected when the main energy returns. the generators continue to feed

Very simple but the generator has to be on, and will take the load when the main line is cut. To be more automated it would need like a button on the generator that its contacts are passing though the auxiliary contact on the contractor, that way when it closes the auxiliary contact is like pressing the button “on” on the generator!

Can this be used for a Westinghouse 9500 generator and a 6000 watt pure sine inverter that has gen start wire ports to recharge our 24 volt 300 hr battery? In other words we are looking for away for when our battery gets run down the inverter kicks on the generator to charge the battery. Your facts please.

They are interlocked. If you want to see it. Just zoom the video. The connection is just like this from mains phase on main contractor coil A1 to generator contractor Nc then back to main line/phase. The same for generator. Black wire to coil A2 independently

hello. i need your help i really dont understand how is a connection being automatic. just look, take consideration at a time all the supply power ( main and generator) are ON. unfortunately the main power getting OFF. of course according to connection the generator power will continue to work. but when a main power returns the current will flow toward a NC of the generator contactor ,Which is by the time the NC of the generator becomes NO so it will not allow the current to flow direct to main contactor coil. hence in order to a main contactor to be ON the generator should be put OFF manual. so how is a system termed as automatic?. please help me may be i didnt understand

This is not a ATF switch. Ja sure when mains fails the C1 will unlatch and you start the generator then C2 will latch but when mains return it will stay on generator feed until you stop the generator. Add 2x timers to the circuit that handles the change over with a time delay to protect your installation from switching between primary and secondary feed.

In this the load doesnt connect to mains automaticaly after the power failure, it do only after stops the DG manually.

I understand pictorial diagram ...in pictorial diagram u connect the wires to contactor terminal but connecting which terminal NO or NC ? Of course its a NC contact. Its an electrical interlock protection. I will add a mechanical interlock too as additional protection.
