When I have some time I'm definitely going to take a crack at some new stop motion. Probably with a training clicker or snapping. It would be simple to clean up by isolating the snaps/clicks across the entire file using an equalizer, which would prevent just about any other sounds from interfering. Other stuff too. Really need to find myself a couple of hours to mess about with this...

Convering every frame of the video to a picture is really wasteful. It shouldn't alter the frames or sound and just skip on the video timeline seekbar by itself. Analysing audio in the video player's buffered sections and speedup silence in real-time.

I do not think you would be able to sell the code. The code consist of 233 lines, which is about an hour of work, +/- 30 minutes (depends a lot on skills of the programmer). Maybe you would be able to sell this as an app (compiled code), but I know why carykh did not. *Many, many* programmers put lot of effort to make free (and hopefully open source) apps - it's because they want to help other people... (note: if he made this code/app paid, there would be 110% surely someone [possibly me] that would wrote the thing for free) - Look at what FOSS (free and open source software) is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_open-source_software - Also note: carykh makes most of his FOS code and these videos to educate other people (and if the code is OS, than they can actually educate) - so there you have this pointless comment (I'm so sorry for wasting your time, and I mean it) written in a slight annoyance (I am a big supporter of FOSS, [so be gone Mic**soft and Ap**e]) - Love GNU/Linux, and bye...

The idea of application and the distribution of that idea is what's he's given away for free-ish, since this video will generate revenue for him. So why sell an app which thousands of people can mimic, when you can use your skills as a potent content creator (edit: and your primary audience; us subscribers) and monetize on those through our watching of his videos on KZfaq? Him making money just this exact way as is happening here might not be his first goal, but it does happen. Code monetized.

I've been looking for this video again for a while. I have the same issue of a lot of empty space in lecture recordings, but also a lot of foreign lectures who i find hard to understand on 2x speed so currently I compromise to 1.5x speed but I keep remembering this project that would be perfect for my scenario. Unfortunately since it's not a super viral video, and the title isn't about its use for lectures, I could never find it. Still, I'm glad I found it now and I'm glad you made it in the first place

Not kidding this is really helpful. But needs a bit of improvement like frame blending and audio ducking to improve the flow. Tho I'd really love to see a setting where you can set how many milliseconds it'll wait before or after making a cut and such stuff. EDIT: It's actually already a feature, nice.

Next thing that'd be interesting to see is a network trained to preserve temporal consistency and can create transition frames so it looks less like a jumpcut and more like you're actually moving that fast, also possibly something which performed voice recognition and cut filler words like "um" and "I forgot, uh"
