Not true. U have to know what gear to start in and how. Shifting gears isn't hard. Except for the simple minded people. People pick a side and that's all they like or they think other people can't even drive stick so their some sort of stick shifting closed minded biggot. Manuals in these cars are slightly quicker. But in the new mustang GT the ten speed auto smokes the 6 speed Everytime. Honda is behind in technology. They need a coupe V6 with a ten speed auto or a 15 speed auto. Screw stick or auto. We need what's the best. Our Auto is good but we need better than Fords ten speed. Research it.

Only bad thing about the 8th and 9th gen V6 j-series Autos is they dont have actual V-Tec. The manual does, but not the auto. It does not have the vtec lobes. And you cant just tune it and enable vtec. And the engine is setup, well, to be an Accord (a daily driver commuter car). Thats what Honda designed the car/engine for... so its not easy to actually control the release of the max power these engines can deliver. A k-tuner doesnt do enough. My 8th gen V6 auto with some mods, if at the OPTIMUM temperature, and I stomp the pedal at the exact right moment, it will go 15mph to 55 in less than a second. And makes torque like a son of a gun. You would think it has vtec but it doesnt. Other times I stomp the pedal and the car barely moves. Its just not controllable. Yeah, from a stop, if I just use the 1, 2, 3...its more controllable but still. The transmission, engine, and ECU are all just setup from the factory for max economy/longevity. It takes a lot to start to unleash whats possible. Its an engine that could of definitely been utilized in a Type-R, but it was ultimately designed for an Accord.

@@legioner9 I literally have a photo of my 2017 V6 Accord's dash mpg display at 39.7 mpg after a long highway ride. AT Accords have VCM and can turn off 3 of the cylinders. MT Accords don't. My V6 AT becomes an I3 when cruising. Just look at the spec sheet for the fuel economy on the 2017 AT Accord vs 2017 MT Accord. Manual transmission is much more enjoyable to drive, but modern ATs get better fuel economy.
@legioner9
@legioner9 Жыл бұрын
@@JustinDaniels You make confusion between the cause of the reduced fuel economy and the influence of the gearbox in mpg. It is the cylinder shut off system which makes the better mpg in the automatic car, not the automatic transmission itself. That's why the automatic Accord even has the cylinder shut off system in the first place. Automatic gearboxes will never bring better mpg compared to a manual transmission simply because there is more friction between elements, more powertrain loss and more weight. This thing is teached in 2nd year at Technical Universities, where you learn about mechanical efficiences, different friction coeficients, load resistance etc.
@JustinDaniels
@JustinDaniels Жыл бұрын
@@legioner9 I thought you were talking about V6 Accords. My statement, "AT is more fuel efficient" is referring specifically to MT V6 Accords vs AT V6 Accords. The AT V6 Accord has a lower final drive ratio in 6th gear in addition to VCM, therefore is more fuel efficient and runs at lower RPM at cruising speeds. I may not have made myself clear. Obviously I understand that given completely equivalent gear ratios, a good driver can get better fuel economy with a MT. However, in general, modern AT vehicles are more fuel efficient than their counterparts (even if MT vehicles theoretically have less drivetrain power loss) because many automatics have 8 to 10 speeds, compared to modern MT vehicles which usually only have 6 speeds. Since the AT vehicles have more potential gear ratios, they often can cruise at a lower RPM across the board and therefore consume less fuel. (Also, most MT drivers don't upshift as aggressively as an AT car will under light acceleration.)

@@ian.williamson It also depends on how the car is driven. The 9th gen Accord have adaptive shifting and throttle response. I thought I was crazy at first, but I have confirmed this. If I drive for a while like a grandma in my 2017 V6 6AT Accord and then floor it, the car is not responsive and does very lazy shifting. If however, I've driven aggressively with quick acceleration for a while, and then I floor it, the car shifts much faster and feels way more responsive. I wish there was a way to get it to just shift responsively all the time, because I don't like having to drive aggressively so that my car won't get lazy.... Maybe I do need to get a K-Tuner.
