Some 3 wire sensors (some Dodge transmissions for one) have a +5 Vcc (voltage constant current) supplied from the PCM (power control module), a ground and the "sense signal" or output wire which has a +5 voltage Vss (vechicle speed signal) also supplied from the PCM. The PCM +5 Vss pulses or drops during operation indicating speed to PCM. This type of speed sensor arrangement cannot be bench tested the same as this method above, unfortunately. hi my dear friends: the first i say thanks for the all vedeos i like see all vedeos from USA and CANADA I"m a fan of chevrolet. i"m from norway and i have a chevy suburban 6.5 TD model 1995 and i change a standard automatic transmission 4L80E for a full manual transmission NV4500, befour everyting working and after this modification the speedometer don"t working and the ABS light is ON!!! no one can tell my what"s going on there!!! we conect all wire"s all cables in good conditions just disconect the conector"s of automatic transmission!! why or where is the solution for working again a dam speedometer? i appreciate really who know this type of electrical problems. thanks

so is this a device that changes a cable speedometer to a electric speedometer? was looking to swap my 88 s10 from cable to electric gauges but did not want to have to go and change the transmission. is there anything else that you need to use this device properly?

If the 3 wire speed sensor was connect to 12 volt supply instead of 5 volt, would the (Autometer) speedometer work (constantly) like that? Im lacking 5 volt on my (engine swapped) TJ Wrangler and was thiking of usin 12 volt instead, if that will not harm the meter og sensor.
