I ran a version of this machine in the 1960's which was called the Auto-Vicobold. The feeder unit ran on a rail tract so you rolled it away while you made ready. You could also hand feed if it was a short run. The Suction pump on the feeder unit was a nightmare and kept failing. We swapped it out for an Heildelberg windmill eventually. As mentioned this type of machine was brilliant for cutting as the platen closed horizontally to the bed, rather than clam shell. I left printing early 70's, so I am in a nostalga phase at the moment looking at old printing vidoes and what happens now with digital presses.

No I worked on a lot old machines in the 1960s. This model I worked on from 1966 to 1967 in an old fashioned print shop in Gravesend Kent.

The first printing machine I saw in a poky old print shop where somebody worked in 1973 (Hounslow) was a Heidelberg platen (large version) I thought it was a monstrous contraption. I was only sixteen in 1973 and the following year I got myself into printing, working for a small family business; the owner of the business was a piece of shit to put it politely and he paid us monkey’s wages. The work place itself was a dump and not fit even to keep animals in - No heating, in wintertime cold concrete floors, dirty environment etc. In that place the first printing machine I learned to operate was the Thompson platen, then Heidelberg platen (large version), RotaPrints, R30, R30/90 R40. All the machines in that place where never serviced and were falling apart. The letterpress type we had to work with was so old and battered over years of use; they became unrecognisable to the style they were meant to be (make-ready was a nightmare). After I had served a five year apprenticeship, I left and worked in a different printing shop, starting off on a Crosland (hand-fed) machine and eventually my last machine was a Heidelberg GTO 52.

Redblade I have also work in some very dirty workshops. This machine has had a good clean up and looks like new. The one I worked on was in a right state and due to wear rattled a lot. I did manage to work on some nice machines over the years including some very big photo gravure and flexo machines and a newspaper press.

Very curious machine. IT looks like a cross between a Heidelberg, Victoria, Kluge and Thompson/Colt. Where does it come from? What is it called? I thought I knew all platen presses, but this one's new to me!
@jonf56465 жыл бұрын
They say it is a German machine but is an exact copy of the "autovic" (Victoria) platen

I witnessed the decline and end of typography... now I witness the decline and end of the offset system replaced by digital toner printing, on the way to digital electronics, 40 years dedicated to the graphics industry. I am overcome with grief.

@willianarguello46783 ай бұрын
eeeh Esto es una Klugger, solo que el distribuido tinta es cilindro y en viaje del sustrato en sentido contrario.
