Thanks for this video. I recently bought a BMW E92. My daily is a Lexus IS250 & I bought an android head unit to make it a bit more modern. The Lexus has one of the best stock sound systems I've ever heard in a car and I didn't lose any audio quality due to the replacement - some of them aren't compatible with the Mark Levinson audio system - the one I went for was, and worked perfect. I bought a retrofit android head unit kit for the E92 and had to rip it out and put the stock unit back in because the audio quality was just horrendously bad. I went for the Eonon P4, bought a bunch of right angled cables so I could have a really clean install and it looks OK, but sounds so much better than the retrofit kit!

Carpuride has a Night Time setting for the cameras. It can be set to auto so it switches automatically.

Hello man, like your reviews on the carplay units. among those three, which do you think provides the best fm transmitter sound quality?

Thank you for the honest review. I personally bought the Seicane after watching several reviews which all gave glowing recommendations. But once I tried it I realised how bad the audio quality was, so didn´t bother fitting it. So a waste of +$100

Hi, do you think it's worth comparing these units based on the software support from the manufacturer? Like if they have a web site where you can download new firmware versions with bug fixes and new features... I wonder if there is a chance that in the future Apple or Google may release new version of CarPlay or Android Auto that make these units stop working or unable to use the new features and may need new firmware from the manufacturer...

I purchased the carpuride w903, and to perform any firmware updates you have to jump through hoops. And must have a windows PC !! Not happy!!

I'm not saying the Seicane unit is great, but I just received one in the mail, having purchased it through the recommendation of another KZfaqr for my particular car. I didn't actually realize these units were so common and readily available, but whatever... I think I have that $100 version, but it seems to be maybe a different model, as it says Seicane on the front of the device, instead of the back. I tried your bootup test, and while it did boot slower than the first 2 units, it was about 3 seconds faster than your unit. I found the one reason you seemed to bin this device was tied to it's ability to connect via FM, which seems like such a weird quantifier since I would think most people would have Bluetooth or USB in at very least in their car, given most cars released in the last 15+ years have at very least a 3.5mm audio in jack. I know there are older cars on the road, but I'd say FM connection would be a distant third as an audio choice in North American vehicles. I connected my phone to Bluetooth and the stereo and the audio sounds exactly the same as when I just connected my phone directly to my car. I agree that the dashcam adjustability and mount options on the other devices are a lot better. My unit does have 3 screws to detach the bottom, so I'm curious if I can find another mounting method that would work. I actually just blundered upon this, but if you press and hold the app icon in the bottom left it'll activate Siri and listen for a prompt. I know you mentioned one of the devices having a physical button to activate Siri was a plus, but this device does have a mic, it's placement just doesn't seem obvious. My guess is it's somewhere near the camera on the back. I think you don't see the devoted Siri button because there isn't enough vertical space to show it along with all the other UI elements. Again, I'm not saying the Seicane unit is the best, but I think you graded it pretty harshly, when in my experience with it so far, it's a pretty capable device and not nearly as bad as you've made it out to be.

Got Lamtto rc14, and have to say it was a worse than i thought. You have to confirm stupid popups and dusconnect/connect from a smart phone again, install odd apps. Navigation and music plays in the background but also when you don't want. Video streaming requires the phone is unlocked and orientation matters too much. Usability is years from what one would expect, thus you can only wish there would be an open source project that develops the firmware and that it would be upgradable. Also, I keep wondering how long it takes until the side windows are broken...

Love your stuff man. Have to say that having an older vehicle these devices make me drool. For me i think i would like only one solid cable from the unit. Where i could run it under (or stright through) the dash to behind the din radio then run the cables where needed. I havent found one that allows to plug with a external mic. i think it would be interesting if there was a single din amplifier/stereo designed to plug into a screen like this to work as one unit(maybe thrre is 🤔). All the best.

Note one thing, the 4k video may be recorded, but none of these screens will play it back at 4k. You will need a TV or monitor to realize and view the full 4k. It also takes up much more space than 2k, so less loops. Some cheap units will state 4k, but they won't even have that option, so those are a fraud.

The most frequent bad reviews I see for all of these types of units is that they all seem to develop crashing, reboot loops, or random shutdowns after just a short time of a month to less than a year - have you thought of revisiting any of these units or testing their longevity? Seems like maybe many of them suffer from overheating problems maybe? I'd love to get one of these, but not if it's likely to be a paperweight in a few weeks or months of use.

I've bought the Seicane a few months ago. I must admid that the 4k works very well. But,indeed the audio quality is very bad and the frame is not very stable or steady. It shakes up and down most of the time,even on a smoothly road. Another thing that's annoying on the device is, when it's starting up,it goes from camera,back to menu on itself,so you have to push on the camera again. And like the video said,it takes a while to start up,so you're sitting in your car ...waiting. So,i regret buying this junk. Be warned.!!

Sony makes almost all of the camera lenses. The rear video quality often depends on which rear lens you purchase rather than on the unit itself.
