Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Though your video title doesn't mention it, I immediately spotted the second-generation Charger door and I have a bit of door sag at the rear of my '70 Charger passenger side door. Your video couldn't be more appropriate and perfect for my particular issue!

Very cool, happy to help! I’ve probably gotten the most emails about this vid saying “Thanks”! Or “this really helped!”

Sorry I'm just getting back to you, How'd it go? It's weird that this little video I did has helped so many people straighten out their doors! I get emails all the time from people just like you that are like "I just moved it 1/8" and it's Perfect". Happy to help, hope yours got straightened out as well! Thanks for watchin as always!

I have a 85 c10. My top gap gets larger towards the back of the cab. If i try adjusting the top rear gap. The front of the door. Vent window area. Hits the cab before the door is closed. I cant seem to figure out how to adjust the top of the door to get a consistent gap along the drip rail. Have new hinges. Any guidance on adjusting truck doors?😮

I just did my hood on my charger again and you gotta just keep at it. First I'd say make sure there's no slop in the hinge, then you gotta just keep playing with it to make sure it's doing what it should. A tiny adjustment on the hinge can change the gaps drammaticallllly! Good luck bro~

Lol I just appreciate you taking time to respond, but doors are a pain. This my first restoration. An I wasn't expecting doors to be something I would struggle with lol.

@@kountrylr23 I hear ya, I did a lot of work ahead of painting to hopefully get mine in the right spot, I don’t wanna do mine again!

Is it common for aging cars say 10yrs old to have the hinges move so the window doesn’t quite close fully on one side. Only a few mm.
@ClarksPlace Жыл бұрын
Yep, I believe so. Remember when your mom or dad told you not to lean on the car door when it was open, or not to lean on the window??? Mine did! Seriously though, yes, parts wear and with the wear can move slightly causing window alignment issues or door alignment issues. I had to re-weld in metal on to the door hinge because it was all worn back like melted away!

@@ClarksPlace Thanks i have this occuring on a 10yr old audi only on the passenger side, i guess the previous owner didn't get the don't lean on it memo.

@@lucasboyle959 I'd pop the door panel and with the window all the way rolled up, try and push the window the rest of the way into place. Then let go of it and watch for anything that moves. It should relax and you'll be able to tell if it is just a worn out plastic roller, or a guide that wiggles. One way or another it sounds like with either an adjustment or a cheap replacement part you'll be back in business. Good luck to ya!

I almost didn't use my new AMD doors because I didn't understand there was any adjustment...

I had another guy tell me that too, they bolted them up and were like "These don't fit at all!" Ya gotta adjust em!

I have an 09 pixo with a door problem. The car was hit and the hinges were destroyed. I replaced the hinges but the door is still opening with a clunk and it falls off. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
@ClarksPlace8 ай бұрын
I don't know what Pixo is, but if the hinges were destroyed, chances are that the places where they mount were jostled around a bit as well... if you replaced the hinges, you might take a straight edge along where the hinges mount and just see if everything looks straight. You might be able, in a pinch, to shim a little bit behind the hinges to kick the door in or out depending on what it's doing. if it clunks down and falls off, that sounds major like the hinges aren't doing what they're supposed to, I'd check to see where the point that it falls off is, then you'll find your problem. Best of luck Tamara!

@@ClarksPlace Thank you. It makes sense 😃😀. I only did a visual check and the lower a-pillar looked ok. I will recheck.

Just got my car back from paint shop. Thats 2 hours away. The drivers door is way out of line. Can adjustment be done with fender on? Door needs to come up and back corner needs to go out
@ClarksPlace7 ай бұрын
If you're talkin a B-Body, or prolly most Chrysler's of this era, you will need to take out the inner fender splash shield and it's possible but not ideal. I'd use some adjusting head ratcheting wrenches and you can probably get to each of the bolts. Take out the kick panel (if it's installed) and you can get to the inside of the hinges as there are bolts that go from the inside to the out through the hinges. From what you're saying, if it's like my door shown in the vid, you should be able to adjust it to get what you need without actually moving the hinges from the inside, but more just adjusting where the door is sitting on the hinges. Look at my latest vid and you'll see me hanging my doors and all the adjustments I do to get them perfect. Hopefully you can see how we kick out the top and bottom from this example. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbl7pqyJ0J3Yio0.html Good luck!

@@ClarksPlace Thanks for your reply and vids, my car is a 73 Challenger. Those shields are not installed and there is no interior yet So i can access all those bolts

@@dennismaxwell165 cool cool, I'm kinda in the same situation with getting all my body panels lined up right now before paint. I don't want to have to adjust the doors after paint, but once I put the interior and glass, and regulator arms and hardware, etc, I hope my door doesn't drop down too low... All the planning I've done and I'll probably still just have to let it fly how it is and adjust if necessary.

The entire passenger side door sits a few mm too low on my 66 cadillac. The door is level, its not sagging more in the back, it just sits too low as a whole and so far i’ve only seen peopl talk about doors leaning back or up dissymetrically. It makes a horrible sound when i close that door its horrible
@ClarksPlace8 ай бұрын
Move both your hinges up a MM, or, you could probably just loosen the bolts that go into the door and kick it up just a touch, but there’s not much adjustment up and don on the door
