The eighth generation of the Cadillac Eldorado, which debuted for the 1967 model year, was a truly landmark model, at least for Cadillac. Not only was it Cadillac's first serious attempt to enter the rapidly growing personal luxury segment, but the '67 Eldorado was also Cadillac's first front-wheel-drive car, which, according to the manufacturer, opened up a whole new class. In support of this thesis, Cadillac began advertising the new Eldorado as "the world's first car to combine the precision of front-wheel drive, the maneuverability of variable steering and the unmatched balance of an automatic suspension adjustment system". The new eighth Eldorado, on the one hand was the same as always, but on the other it had nothing in common with previous generations except the name. This largely unique model is the subject of our new issue...
