LOL, Allan is awesome. And he makes panel adjustments look super easy. He just dives in and does it. We tend to stand around and look at it...then go watch TV.

Great videos thank you for doing them! I feel like I need to get both your addresses and send you guys a few beers! I wanted to watch both videos before I commented. I think I've got more than one thing going on with my car thats throwing me off, but I'm gonna go back and start with the doors like Allan suggests. Also, great suggestion about the hood hinges needing replaced. My old ones do exactly what you described. I want to try to do a video response to keep you posted on my progress :)

Hang on timeout - 19:00 onward look at the hood. The rear to cowl panel and fender is flush, the front the front to header panel and fender will be flush once latched, but what about that center part of the hood to driver side fender? The hood is higher than the fender, how do you get that flush with the fender? I have the same problem with my car, the hood is raised along the center of both fenders, but perfectly flush and square in all 4 corners, rear cowl panel and front header panel

Good point! Usually I will place a block of wood at all four corners of the hoodand hand pressure the hood at its highest point. Check after each pressure application.

any factory gap specs for the 67-69 camaro door gaps to quarters, doors to fenders, fenders to hood, hood to cowl, or hood to header panel?

We don't have any; but rule of thumb is .125 inch. To be precise we'd recommend grabbing a GM assembly manual, typically these outline the gaps that the factory wanted to see.

How do you mark each bolt so you can re-assemble after everything gets painted do you are not fitting everything from scratch a second time?

We put all the fasteners from an area in sandwich bags with paper tags with number and type of fastener; ie: Valance in one bag, Hood hinge in one bag etc. You can even break this down by area of part: Top of Fender X bolts, two washers. Bag two: Lower Fender three bolts. We will even annotate if fasteners are missing or wrong.

AutoRestoMod Thanks for the quick response. How do you mark the parts after they have been fitted and gaps have been set, prior to final paint? I am guessing that you bag the shims for each bolt location and mark the bags. Do you drill additional holes for re-alignment in the hood and door hinges so they can be realigned after paint? How do you mark those so you do not have to re-gap everything after the parts have been painted?

Scott Goessling We're happy to help. You can mark the part by drilling the panel after setting them, but our opinion is that usually those items are hard to get back in exactly the same spot where the drill holes are. We use "gaskets" made of plastic milk jugs with holes punched in them for the bolt to pass through (we use two pieces of jug, they don't make them like they used to). This allows you to align the panel and not mar the paint. Be careful though as the panel still might mar with fresh paint if the bolt is over tightened during the alignment process..

I didn't learn anything from these two. They just talked and then made adjustments with the hood down so you can't see what they were doing. Poor.

Uhhhh that is how you make adjustments. Sometimes there is no way to show every jot and tiddle in a process, unless we can get X-Ray cameras.

Welp we were in the very early days of the show and made due with the stuff we had and the onboard mics. This was shot in 2010...
