A good F1 race is much more exciting to watch than 24hrs, but a win in 24hrs is so much more rewarding, Im not a big fan of Porsche, but seeing them taken the win, and when the camera pointed to the garage, you truly feel happy for them even its not ur favorite team.

Got to feel for Kobayashi too. Best in the qualy with record, he looked in his element and good for fighting for the win or podium least. Then the problem after safety car. These cars are not as reliable anymore, with all this push for modern tech.
@GeriatricFan1963
@GeriatricFan1963 7 жыл бұрын
True, but their problem happened early on and Toyota weren't denied on the final lap like they were last year. The #1 was taking it as easy as they could up front and the car still failed them.

Eh, I think it's more complicated than that. If they stopped pushing for modern tech, I.E. Hybrid systems they'd barely be any faster than the LMP2's. If you stand still then you get beaten. However maybe you have a point as the rules for 2018 seem ridiculously complicated.

I just loved how that Porsche 2 hunted down that first place, like a madman. Specially with Timo behind the wheel, you could feel the actual tension in my living room. The Pro class race was nerve wrecking as well, The Aston followed the Corvette around the last 30 min like if the Corvette had a magnet mounted in the rear. Felt kinda hollow they lost because of a puncture and locked break...... When they had been driving that well. It really was an exciting last few hours, Unfortunately, I missed it all, but I was able to see the last 3 hours anyway, So im thankful for that.

Jaikar Chatha What's funny is the Aston Martin couldn't even keep up with the Ford Gt if they hadn't forced Ford to lower it's turbo boost pressure and carry more weight. They also wouldn't have won without the help of junk on the race track causing the Corvette to have a flat on the last lap.

The Ford is really a cheater prototype car. It's not a homologated road car. Kind of goes against the entire spirit of the GT class. But since Aston and the rest of the manufacturers are better sportsmen than I would be, they gave Ford a waiver which is a huge competitive allowance. Ford is also a hundred billion dollar company with hundreds of thousands of employees and an R&D budget the equivalent to many countries' GNP. Aston has 1,500 employees and sells 3,000 hand built cars a year. So yeah...Ford's non-homologated cheater prototype should be faster. And if we just let the Fords of the racing world have their way in the GT class, it would be boring as hell...not be competitive...and become a monopoly. Ford knew the rules of the GT class when they started the program. If they want to compete in an unregulated class, they should race in LMP1. And btw, the Aston's pole time this year was faster than the Ford's pole time last year.

Captain0711 Well, there was this situation with a driver, who looked like a track marshall. Kobayashi started but if he would not have stopped aß told by his team, there might be a crash with safety car. But the pitstop mode was disabled. He started again driving out of the pit, but without the ekectroengine. That caused the damage, because it was a situation that normally doesn't exist.

HTM That's truly bad luck for Toyota. When I read that today I was feeling very bad because nobody deserves that something like this happens. But at the moment it seems like LMP1 is dead anyways. So maybe they can win the GTE AM class next year with a Toyota Prius GTE or something like that:P

I don't have words to describe how much I miss Audi. The Dieselgate scandal was a huge blow against the VW group, and part of the lose when straight to Audi Team Joest, the most successful Le Mans team until now... Which I see clearly unfair, due their hard work. I hope to see more teams next year... We see Audi, Porsche, Toyota, even Nissan... I really like to see the LMP1 go up and recover. On the other hand... I was always sad for the dismiss of the GT1, but this GTE series... Ferrari 488 GTE, Porsche 911 RSR, Aston Martin Vantage GTE... And that gorgeous Ford GT... Just WoW... I see a promissing future in that category.

Adam Perkins HAAHAHA, I was there, and for sure, come with some sound protection, cars are absolutely loud, especially Corvette and Porsche this year. V8 LMP2 cars are really loud too ! LMP1 cars are quiet, thanks hybrid ;)

I think it most be boring for one team to see another lose because of mechanical failure, that victory wont feel hard earned.

its not boring because this race is based on endurance, whoever keeps their car going and not have any problems shows that they have a reliable car and wins the race

The Mazda 787b was a C2 class car (LMP2 predecessor) and that won in 1991. The rotary engine should be allowed to scream around Circuit de la Sarthe once again!

Andy Harris if someone is willing to spend vast sums of time and money to develop one, it might.
@Ewane
@Ewane 5 жыл бұрын
Andy Harris C1 and C2 were equal in performance though. All the factory teams but Peugeot competed in C2, and C2 was the category that had won the previous 9 years. The simple difference between them was engines, not performance, they were equal categories.

The hilarious part is that pretty much only 2 LMP 1 cars finished the race overall. The much slower LMP2 cars almost won it. 1 lap difference from first to second place (lmp1 and lmp2) is pretty much nothing. Another small hickup and the lower class would've won. Quite embaressing for the amount of money they had to invest to develop that car. Let's see how it goes this year. Porsche has no LMP1 entry though from what I can see.

2:20 - That has to be the worst feeling in the world. Knowing you have 1/4 of the way in, have a long straight uphill in front of you plus another 6.7 miles and 4 long straights all 1 mile in length and you can't shift gears, just sitting there looking at the dash and the hill on the radio, saying "okay, how long do we have to go in this race?" Better yet - 4:11 - Porsche #2 says "See ya" and "I hope whatever bit you doesn't touch me, buckaroo" and "catch you in about 55 minutes" to Lotterer in Porsche #1.

why you cant unterstand this ? the lmp1 is much faster but is 18 rounds behind because of repairing ... he starts over again and overtakin the lmp2 multiple times ... after 23 hours the lmp1 was 18 Laps faster and take the lead
