People here fail to understand the meaning of 225 hp. It means it can reach a peak of 225 hp at its highest performing rpm. I doean't mean it produces 225 hp on the whole range. Hell it can even be producing 50 hp at 3500 rpm. The bhp isn't as meaningful as people tend to think.

Whenever they see big numbers on HP department they expect some super-duper results. This is a FWD car which cripples acceleration compared to RWD, with an automatic aisin transmission which cripples it even further. Still great results when you consider those, coupled with a beautiful design in both interior and exterior.

@@JRCW892 oh really? And why a VW Passat B8 with 220hp which have +100kg than this can be faster? This 508 weights about 1420kg, it's like 125kg extra than a VW Golf, u can't say that this is a really heavy car. The design is great and also i'm not saying that this is slow; it's slow compared to what people expected to be, this should be the top of the line model from the 508 series, is also called GT and in the video it's doing 0-100 in +9 seconds..

The problem of not reaching 250 km/h is that this engine gives its maximum power at 5,500 rpm, and in the video it remains in 6th gear at 6,000 rpm and 242 km/h. If he had entered the 7th gear (it is seen that he is using it in sequential mode) it could have reached 250 km/h.

GPO it is the same, however, this car only has a 1.6 litre engine with only 300nm of torque. So it’s not bad for a big old limosine that weighs close to two tonns.

Very true but there are a lot more affordable cars powered by diesel engines capable to reaching similar speeds quicker. I am talking still about 4cyl engines to make it fairer. I would too be happy if I got this car as free loaner but I would never buy it with my own money.

Bonjour, quand je lance ma voiture à fond arriver à 180km/h en D8, elle redescend brusquement en D5. Est-ce normal ? Je suis allée chez Peugeot signaler le problème, ils ont fait une mise à jour de la boîte de vitesse, mais le pb persiste. Ils n’ont pas pu l’essayer et ils me conseillent de ne pas rouler à plus de 180 Km/h. pour une 225ch je trouve cela dommage, qu’en pensez-vous ? Merci de votre réponse.

agreed. 320i ED 1.6 lt and it was 170 hp. This 225 hp engine is modified version of the engine in 320i ED and 320i ED's 0-100 is 7.6 sec. I haven't looked their weights but I think the reason is transmission. Ok, Aisin gearbox in peugeots are not bad, but not good as ZF in BMW

@@clutched77 In my country, there is. I live in Turkey and we do not have 320i which has 2.0 lt petrol engine after 2012. 320i ED has 1.6 lt 170 hp engine which was designed by BMW and PSA group. It was the same engine with 1.6 THP and it was also used in 118i before lci. . So, if you want to have more information, you can google it. It's not so hard and those weren't bullshit.

For everyone who wonders, its a 1.6 i am impressed that he made it at 241, ok.. without a transmission who dont allow this the car would not reach that speed but anyway its a 1.6 petrol engine for this big car too small engine and its normal that he is slow on higher speed because again of the 1.6 motor/engine

Agree I have Zafira C facelift 1.4 Turbo 4 cylinder 140ps it goes quite well. But 1.2 3 cylinder is too weak for 5008.

Tous les grands connaiseurs en mécanique ici présents n'ont pas l'air de comprendre que PSA n'a PAS LE CHOIX que de faire des petits moteurs. A cause des normes anti-pollution. Je suis d'accord que c'est ridicule de metre un 1.6 turbo dans une grosse berline, mais c'est comme ça. Ils n'ont pas le choix. C'est fini l'air des V6 qui faisaient 3.2 de cylindrée. C'est illégal aujourd'hui.. Bienvenue en 2019.

This car has no way 225ps , there is no chance . The stats are wrong , at max it can have 180ps if not less. The car weighs around 1420kg, as a result it has a bhp/t score of 155 , that is audi a6 50 tdi , bmw 530d xdrive level and they complete 0-200 in 15 seconds less....

What do you expect from a 1.6l turbo petrol engine? It probably has it's 225hp at 5500rpm. Below 5000rpm it might be max 80hp, above 5500rpm max 50hp. There aren't even enough exhaust gases coming from that small engine for the turbo to kick in properly. My Mazda 6 with a 2.5l, 192hp, naturally aspirated engine is faster. It simply got the Volume to deliver some power. Only really at 3500rpm and higher, but at least it does. And it drives really nice since it doesn't have a turbo.

Mazda:148g co2/km Peugeot :119g co2/km The low acceleration rate is due to the ratios of gearbox, choosen to fulfill the future requirements of europeean regulations. But Mazda 6 is a really good car although.

exactement, les moteurs poussifs comme ça c'est insupportable il faut tirer dedans pour avancer. Même avec les normes anti-pollution il y a moyen de faire un moteur 2.0L souple et coupleux.

faudrait voir ce que donne la 508 "by peugeot sport" c'est vrai que pour l'instant c'est pas fou, je me rappelle il y a 2 ans on voyait la 308 r hybrid mettre une raclée à une rs3, mais bon toujours rien sur les modèles de serie.

Can you dyno it? It's hard to believe that the engine lives up to its rated output. If it does, Peugeot should change the specs to 0-100 in 8,5 sec and a top of 235 km/h. Lying about the specs is super stupid and kills credibility. It seems to me that they might be getting a little overconfident because of the recent successes. Although the 1.6 e-THP isn't bad anymore, it apparently doesn't fit this car. Either tune it, which shouldn't be too hard, change the specs, or better yet, put two 1.6 270s together in a lightweight aluminium silicate 90° V8 block to get a 3.2 L, 550 BHP, 600+ Nm strong competition smoker. Put that in the SW version, make it AWD/RWD, at some electric motors and kill the RS6. With cylinder deactivation and a hybrid powertrain it could be very economical as well.

@@boostwars6912 Chassis would have to be adapted to an RWD setup. All other parts that will endure more stress can be enhanced as well. Beefier gearbox, etc.
