We've had these in Thailand for well over 12 months, and they get nothing but praise. There are 3 models available here, starting at around the equivalent of £17,000, all the way up to £28,000 for the top, fast sports model with bigger battery.

This car is a godsend in Malaysia, being the cheapest car produced there, at least for now. It is cute, pretty spacious for a city car, and may not have much boot space, but people do not buy this car to go 500 miles to the next state. Impressive car, impressive review, thank you Rory.

If they drop the price by 3-5,000 and fixed the issues he pointed out, they’d have a winner on their hands. Then I’d purchase that Funky Cat!

GWM have recently arrived in my country and they've completely overturned the market. Traditional brands like VW and Toyota are way overpriced while having far less features, and the market is starting to realise it

There are definitely some compromises (range, boot) but it's not nearly as compromised as some other EVs (MX30 I'm looking at you most of all) from already mainstream brands, so it's really a question of taste and personal choice. Once the bigger battery version comes over, I'd gladly take that one because a lot of the Funky Cat's competitors are dreadfully dull and/or cheap and nasty. I just couldn't choose between the blue/white or the red/white interior, I love them both!

I think if GWM decides to do a performance version with long range battery capacity naming it Tomcat. I reckon it would do well.

If they had kept to the £20-22k then they might have sold some. At £32k for the entry model it's £10k overpriced, nobody wants to pay that for an unknown brand with no rep. Especially as it was sold at £14k equivalent in China it's just greed on trying to appear premium.

Looks super cool and desirable - I even like the name! Shame about the relatively low range (and even more so the low max charging rate) which do not match the opposition like the ID3 and limits the appeal.

2:38 Someone at my School owned one of these with some OZ wheels and it looks amazing.

Other reviews pointed out its small battery, slow charging. Together with cheap suspension and a tiny boot. No way am even slightly interested at paying over £32,000 for this. Obviously this car is easily beeten by MG4 or MG5.

Nice review as usual 💯 i realized with these digital turn signals also in a tesla model y then when you press it lets say down to go left then want to cancel it just press it down again and it cancels instead of trying to half press up. Now not sure if that is the case with this "funky cat" aswell what a name 😅 but thats how it was with the tesla model Y.

If it had a larger battery and boot I’d be interested, why oh why are loads of manufactures no longer fitting rear wipers to hatchbacks ?

That bizarre rear light placement may be confusing for other drivers.. I was searching for it, until he pointed it out. My brain is used to the placement of rear lights at a particular place, it will definitely leave some guessing if it's breaking or not

I absolutely disagree with 9:30 . Since electric cars break with recuperation rear breaks are not used as much and are prone to rust. The drum brakes on VW are newly developed drum brakes and far better than the drum brakes of the old days.

According to one of our dealership, it's a ..... Haval Jolion but lowered and fully electrified. Still not a bad car, rather good but our version of this Funky Cat cost pretty much the same as our cheapest MG ZS EV (Excite). As a horn connoisseur, Chinese GWMs have the worst horn - sounds like a typical Toyota or Honda. BYDs and SAIC MGs have a European like horn.

Never ceases to amaze me how many reviewers of the Ora make such a meal of the indicators. They work differently. Use them differently. Simple. Continually mucking about with the stalk and saying it's confusing just makes you look stupid. I have a 2015 Nissan Leaf. It has both forms of indication. A half press will get you a few blinks before the indicator stops. I don't have any issue operating that function. But apparently motoring journalists find it to be on par with solving a Rubik's Cube blindfold. On the matter of price the price is as much to do with the fact that it's being imported into Brexit Britain as anything else. This is something that has been happening for decades where car manufacturers charge the UK a premium for importing their products. Some people used to buy a car overseas and ship it into the UK as it was cheaper than getting it from an UK based dealer. Post Brexit this problem has become worse. As others have commented the price of the Ora elsewhere starts at £17,000 equivalent and tops out at £28,000. After all this isn't being imported from France. It's coming from China. That's a lot of schlepping to get it to the dealers.

Funky! But too expensive for a brand with no standing in the UK. Might make an interesting used buy in a few years though.

9:40 This again?! RWD + regen means physical rear brakes rarely get used. I'd rather have drums there than discs that will build up layers of crunchy rust every time they get wet. Rear discs ≠ virility symbol.

These things are still too pricey. They look and feel nice inside and outside but I'd like for Great Wall to make and import into the EU a smaller and cheaper model, a Ford Fiesta of sorts. Over 30k is crazy.

I found I like the car even though I am still not sold on electric cars. Still, this would work well for an around the town car. Very nice features and warranty. That is the plusses. But my God the price. Sell this at 22k and they would not be able to keep it in stock. Finally, I looked very closely to all the shots of the exterior paint and it is atrocious. Not quite orange peel but it has a dull lack luster finish. It should be bright and shiny. What was your take on the finish from direct observation?

A point maybe worth sharing from other video reviews I've watched of the Funky Cat - motorway speed refinement is surprisingly poor with significant wind noise around the mirrors and tyre roar, too. Oh, and no 'frunk' either - which might've otherwise made up for the dreadful boot capacity for a car of this size...!

Nicely presented. The glove box is part is hilarious. On another note, UK number plates are the ugliest in the world, and make any nice-looking car naff (think James Bond cars). They really should change that. Love from Australia.

I went on quite a few Great Wall coaches whilst I was on holiday in China. They were actually really nice coaches - so pretty cool to see their cars in the UK.
