Ive had mine for over10 years.... thing still works great. I jump start everything with it, 8 cylinder vehicles also. I think I get like 10 or more jumps a year before I charge it back up again. Lots of old lawn equipment, snowmobiles, etc. Buy one, you wont regret it. I dont.

Thank you I just bought one today. I had to have a jump today so I didn't want to have to ask for help with strangers being a woman in the future so I went to get my battery tested and it's good so I don't understand why that happened but I bought this today because I have to stay safe. I appreciate this video how to properly use thos device. I did read the instructions first like I was told and now I've watched your demonstration. Thank you.

That's just a minimize the chance of spark igniting hydrogen gas. For these jump starters have an off switch it's unlikely to happen. And the cords are pretty short on these. If you can reach a nut on a strut tower that can usually work.

Instructions say to plug in neg (black) to any non moving metal part that’s not connected to the battery, I did that by connected it to a bolt on the hood of my car and it worked. Is it bad if it’s connected to the battery? If not then why do the instructions say not to?

Because you cold have different charging systems without going into a lot of detail it’s always best to follow the manufacturer instructions though! Thanks for your question!

Mine shows a green light when plugged in for charging, it's not a steady green light it dims and brightens as it's plugged in the wall socket. Extension cord. Lol. Does that mean it is charging it's internal battery? When I push the thin button thing the 1st red light turns on. The others do not. So I am assuming the internal battery is not charged. I did connect to car to try to jump but nothing at all happened. I'm praying the unit just needs charging and it's not broken!! Any info gladly appreciated!!!

It's a huge battery 🔋 I would let it charge a day to see if you get a solid green light!

@@infiniteheis Yes , it takes a really long time to charge fully. Even when fully charged, the green light never stays on without dimming while it's charging and even if fully charged it STILL dims and gets bright. So, after fully charging it did not have enough amps to turn over my car. Even with a jump from another car didn't help battery was soo dead. Only after i jumped it from another car AND used the charger the car started. Through charger back on the AC to charge it took 5 days to fully charge. It's great for power outages in the house, you can hook up your phone to the usb No power no problem Just wish it would run the fridge LOL

So we had this one for a couple of months now and I neglected to pay attention to the Plug, so when I charge it up fully will it give a better charge with my 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Thanks for the comment Charles Ray please remember it’s not designed to charge your battery per say , it is designed to jumpstart your battery to give enough power to start then let the alternator kick in and help charge it. a fully charge jump starter will allow for more jumpstart!

They call for 18gauge wire. I use 18 and 16 gauge never had a problem. At first I used a regular $3 extension. The unit got Hot the extension got hotter almost to the point of melting. So just make sure the extension cord is at least 18 gauge.

@@BertrandTechManthat makes me feel better. I bought mine this am and I’ve had it charging for 7 hours and the red light is still on while charging. When I take it off and press the button it’s green but it’s red when plugged in. So I guess I need to just keep letting it build up its first full charge?

Make sure you use an extension cord and let it charge for 24 hours the first time if it doesn't charge it's defective I would return it! Hopefully this helps and please subscribe for more tech and tips!

It takes a long long time to charge because it's a big battery sometimes up to 24 hours!

@@BertrandTechMan thanks brother but already did that & still only goes to yellow. Called Schumacher & they’ve been giving me the runaround for a week. Last thing they said was “take it back to auto zone” which is odd to say since a sticker on the unit clearly says “do not return to store.” Def not happy about it.

Please make sure it's fully charge it take about 18 hours to charge but afterwards if not jumpstarting your car it might be more than the battery!

Take an extension card and plug it to the back of a charger then plug it to the outlet charge it up for about 20 hours on your first time

Useless. Fully charged it and won't jump my kia. Called roadside and guy used his DeWalt and the car started right up. Complete waste of money. 90 bucks for a flash light and USB charger.
