First tension - The best results come from a relaxed body with sudden burst of power (tension) Second - one of the most underused but effective defense techniques is a kick to the leg -thigh shin - ankle... which is usually never even seen by the attacker. Great as a distraction or major waza!

Johannes, the general level of tension in your body is very soft. Is this from Kissaki-Kai or a separate training method?

Hi! The little I know I have learned from my teachers in Kissaki and a local martial artist in Västervik (who first introduced me to Kissaki). I try not to tense more than necessary and I would say that both soft and hard is in Kissaki-Kai. What's your thoughts on the matter? Take care!

@@KissakiKaiSweden My first impression is "this guy moves really well". I came from a Shotokan background so it was years of cross-training other styles (mostly Chinese) that I arrived at similar low levels of general tension as the ideal. It speaks volumes of both the system you study and your personal interpretation. Obviously, there is the necessity to be hard at times, but staying very relaxed allows one to localize the tension needed so the rest of the body can keep moving. The level of tension needed for an effective action can be extremely low at times (and some times necessarily!), depending on desired outcome. Also, much easier to add tension when in a stressful situation then to relax and take it away, so training relaxed is good for the body and mind. Thanks for very much for your contribution and the information. I wasnt aware of bunkai of this caliber until I started applying principles of other arts to Karate, so seeing someone with just a Karate background with solid self defense skills and only having just trained one art inspires me.

@@MrRalteria thank you very much! Those where kind words. I have a lot to thank Don Came (head of Kissaki Uk) for. Check him out. 😄 I also try to practice slow as a way to learn how to move fast. I think it works kind of well. Thanks again. I hope you’ll have a great day!

I like 95% of this video. The 5% I'm unsure about is at the end where you're teaching to defend against multiple attackers. The only part of that bi found a bit strange, was that the "attackers" were waiting their turn to attack you, as if in a movie. I understand that this is the beginning stages of learning this sort of concept, and it's awesome that you lot are doing this. Just, noticed a potential bad habit/unrealistic expectation of real world violence that *might* occur. Again, thanks for the great video otherwise.

Thanks for sharing you thoughts, I agree. Worth knowing is that the group are 8th and 6th kyu. Did you practice full on multiple attackers when you practiced for your 7th kyu grading? :)

@@KissakiKaiSweden Is/was this a part of their grading? If so, I must have missed that part. I thought this was a general training video, showing a (very good) concept. Actually, yes, where I train (a goju ryu club), as part of our grading, do multiple attackers scenarios. But then, we also do those sorts of things pretty early on anyway, as part of our general training. I know it's not the case everywhere though, which is why I thought your video was excellent. I used to train at a place that denied the practical application of Kata. That never sat right with me, and I found a minority of instructors within that organisation who actually practiced applied stuff. To their credit, they were very good at what they did, it just wasn't popular en masse.

@@alpachinko9154 No, it is not part of their grading but 8th and 6th kyu are their current levels. That’s good! I think full speed is pointless at this stage. What I want to achieve with particular exercise is to connect the just practiced outside and inside application and a little consideration of how to position one self. Im glad you liked the video. Grading is the 27th so there might be a new one coming at the start of the new year. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Hope you’ll have a nice Christmas.
