Tune in to the Autumn with me using this abstract drawing challenge.
Through it, I hope to notice and draw more of the details in nature on seven plein air sessions, painting or drawing outside.
I’ve made this video to demonstrate three of the prompts within the challenge, with the focus on exploring texture, colour & abstraction through scale.

Glad you lost patience with the tiny brush… I was just screaming at my iPad (Bigger Brush!) 😂😂😂 Nice idea of the prompts Orla & lovely scenery too! 😊

😂 haha I know - I never use them really, and thought to give it another go. Instantly remembered why I don’t use them! However, the metal of the brush did make some accidental scratch marks into the paper which soaked in extra pigment, so all was not lost… thanks for watching! 😄

Thanks for this very manageable and still exciting challenge! And the permission to just explore .). I've started today. and to make it even easier for myself (less pressure), I am dividing the subjects in colour, shape and texture. So the first few sketches I will focus on the colour of the prompts' subject, then on its shape and finally on texture. I'm, mainly, using coloured pencils and watercolour. It's made me really look at the subjects! And in the meantime I also enjoyed the crows flying overhead, the colours of the trees and the sounds of the cranes. Great exercise!
