AUX DIY BMW Reverse RDS BP4836

This one is going to work in place of AM radio. Sound quality crystal clear. In my case cassette unit is going out, but you can leave it in fully working order if you want. AUX is going to be activated with original AM radio button.

Hello , i understand correctly ? -> if I do not want to touch the tapes and FM radio, but only AM, I just do not touch the cassette capacitor?

Hi, maybe you can help. The capacitor that is soldered straight to the chip is not working. Tried it without the capacitor and with. What should I check? Thanks!

Hello, I have a Reverse RDS radio like this One with the Reverse button not working (I feel it like disconnected After pulling and the tape doesn't switch from a side to another). Any idea of what it could be and advices to fix it by myself, if possible? Thank you very much

Small advice: use a bigger capacitor (something like 2.2uF) because 1uF is gonna take away the low frequencies. How lower the frequency, how bigger the impedance the capacitor will show.

I know the video is quite old now, but you might remember. How did you remove the cassette wire? The brown one that seems soldiered to the PCB

How do you remove the BMW Reverse RDS? Are there any screws in those 4 holes, or just keep the device from those 4 holes and pull it out?

You have to insert something in to all 4 holes and pull radio out. There is a special tool for this.

When i do it like you but put the casette unit back i can use the casette unit without problems ? Or do i have to use different capacitors ?

Hi, You need to buy new capacitors and leave tape capacitors untouched.

megstuBMW I still dont get it. I could buy a 2,2 uF capacitor and use it instead of the first one you removed.... But how can i leave the second tape capacitor untouched? Great manual by the way. And sorry for the stupid questions ;D

Capacitor for right channel you need to solder directly on TDA controller leg, just in a different angle, because that tape capacitor is in original position.

After this mod kassette is still working if you do not touch kassette capacitors.

@@FischersGarage I do not understand your question. To keep kassette you just leave kassette capacitors in original place and just buy and use new pair for AUX mod activating with AM radio like I show in this video.

Hi, yes, you can do on both of these aux in place of AM, or tape, or FM. Both radios using same chip, you just need to find where is AM channels and do the same as with bp4836 (it is possible that on bp1836 AM channels is connected on diferent chip legs, so you need to comfirm that).

I am not sure that I understood you correctly, but if you going to do aux in place of AM radio, than you do not need to do any modifications with tape unit, you can leave it working as normal and untouched. I can make photo what pins in bp1836 radio is AM and where to cut, than you need to do same as I showed in aux diy for bp4836. Also, if you want photos, I can make them the ending of this week.
