I don’t have a source, just in animation every design detail is there for a reason so it’s more likely that it was on purpose than just coincidental.

I don't know why but the story I picked up from this reminds me of Uncharted 4. Two brothers have a hidden secret but need it to live. A girl who loves the little brother doesn't know the secret. She doesn't support him when she finds out but realizes she needs to. People actively hunt both brothers and find the older one. The younger brother finds the older one in an abandoned pirate ship and though the older brother pushes the younger one away, they leave together happy. Sounds exactly like Uncharted 4 in a nutshell.
