At the end of the being a ruler had more to do with how the common public thinks about you. There was no revolt during Akbar's time but Aurangzeb couldn't even wipe the non existent maratha empire. He's a brilliant war general like Bajirao but Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chandragupta Maurya , Akbar were much better rulers.

What brutal man? He bankrupted mughal empire. 2.5Million mughals died in Maratha-Mughal war. He completely destroyed Mughals. You can read his last will. He got mad in his last days. it was full of misery. Mughal army lost all hopes under him that had long lasting effect. It gave opportunity to Maratha to expand in North.

Moving such big army camp around mountain region that too in harsh whether, it was just nonsense act. Just read how Maratha made them run from one fort to other. Akbar who made mughals so strong, aurangzeb eventually made them weak. Mughals were never able to recover.
