You are so right about RE1's soundtrack. The whole vibe of that movie is incredible. It's claustrophobic, dreadful, and terrifying.

The first two RE movies are just perfect for me lol. Flaws and all. Hell even the nostalgia for the 3rd one has me still able to enjoy it

Retribution is one of my favorite "so bad it's good" movies. It's simply mindboggling how someone could make a story so nonsensical, giving zero Fs about the games, its own lore or any semblance of logic, character motivation and basic rules of physics. I refuse to believe the script wasn't written by a 10-year-old with ADHD having the best sugar rush of their life.

I still cannot believe the Netflix Resident Evil show makes the Paul w Anderson Resident Evil movies look like masterpiece in comparison.

I think the reason behind nemesis head being so big was they had mechanical parts build into the mask to move to make nemesis have realistic facial movements otherwise the mask would not be able to open its mouth and have minute expressions

In case you really did not know, the Tobacco industry will donate TONS of money to a movie if it is promised that the final cut will feature "x" minutes worth of likable/cool characters smoking.

So the thing is Leon actually was drunk/hungover and this caused him to arrive to work late in RE2, his girlfriend broke up with him the previous day and his friends took him out drinking and partying to make him forget her and this caused him to oversleep. Michelle Rodrigues plays Rain and I thought the young girl was called KMart was it different in other territories I’m in the U.K. she was badly underused whatever. I was about 9 when resident evil came out in movies and even at that age I had watched my older brother play the game enough to know that it didn’t have a whole lot to do with the game lore, but it’s one of those things where like if you squint hard enough you could see the similarities between the games and the movie. Now I’m debating if I want to watch it again or not as I only really enjoy watching resident evil 1 & 2. Sometimes I’ll watch 3 but that’s as far as I take the movie series

I don't know if you had done it, but it would be kind of fun if you make a retrospective about the Romero's RE script. I know it would be a pain to edit the footage (I did a video essay about it), but I would watch it in a heart beat.

To be honest the movie Franchise really could have been a parasite Eve type thing.... If you don't know what that is it's Square Enix version of Resident Evil

Throwing a flare into a room full of ammo is actually perfectly safe, even if it landed flame side down in a box of ammo it would take a hot minute to cook a few rounds off, and since they wouldnt be contained in a pressure chamber they would pop off relatively harmlessly.

The double barrel pistols are 100% legit. I haven't seen any of these movies past the second one. I'm actually glad I haven't.

I rewatched them all a few months back... and ya know what the first 3 are solid action movies with amazing practical and some decent cgi. The costume designers were fucking on point. And the movies are fucking fun!

I love all you retrospectives Jared. I’m 38 years old and you and I are very similar to survival horror. Fixed cam.,Pre-rendered backgrounds, tank controls. Strategic gameplay. That’s the greatest thing about those oldies. I am kinda cautious, and excited about the RE4 remake. I do want to see Leon from Re2 continuing with his story. He seems like a ptsd veteran from the battle ground of Raccoon City. Any how keep up the good work and I’ll be watching always.

Of all these movies, Welcome to Racoon City hurt the worst. Claire and Chris weren't bad cast choices and really neither was Wesker. (I like Tom Hopper though) It bugged me with Claire though since all they had to do to make her more game accurate is give her a ponytail and they couldn't even do that. Even if Leon didn't look the part, I could have forgave it if he acted like Leon but he didn't. Writers fault there of course not the actor. My hope is that it gets treatment similar to The Last of Us and we get a reasonably faithful show someday. I prefer the animated ones overall. More of those would be nice. Another movie or show is gonna happen as long as the games keep being popular.

The first 2 were alright. Not great by any means but decent guilty pleasures. The rest after though, I was so confused the entire time I kind of just gave up. Don't even get me started on the TV series. That thing is mind melting it's so bad.

What's funny is Resident Evil is about biohazards more than zombies. I wonder if expectations for the series would be different if they were able to keep the title Biohazard everywhere instead. EVERY game/film represents the biohazards. When someone says "It's not RE", they're only remembering a percentage of what the franchise's story is about.

Alexander Witt directed Apocalypse, seems he understood resident evils charm better than Anderson.

Not that it matters but I’m Australian and we have Saltwater Crocodiles in Queensland that do swim out to sea and hang around the beaches near mangroves.

The first movie definitely has its flaws especially the seemingly decrease in time or budget to work on effects. but out of all the video game movies that have been made it’s probably one of the best. It uses thé thé world of resident evil to create a pretty fun horror/action movie without taking too much liberties that disrespecting the games. While making enough changes that make it work in a movie format. While being enjoyable to fans and people who haven’t played the games. Something pretty much every other video game movie fails to do. Apparently capcom seemed to like some of the ideas because the laser hall was added to re4 and they call the lab the nest in the remake most likely inspired by the name hive in the movie. They even added the red queen in umbrella chronicles and in revelations 2. So although I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing movie. It is a pretty good one that is dumb fun and has some pretty suspenseful moments that give off the hopeless feeling the early resident evil games have. it’s probably one of the best video game movies we will ever get. It’s just too bad that none of the other movies despite having some good moments hear and there ever came close to what the first movie accomplished.

The Resident Evil movies are quite possibly my favorite guilty pleasure movie series. I know they're bad and honestly pretty dumb, but I also think they're just kinda fun and enjoyable in their absolute silliness.

I've recently watched all of the films again and I must say I actually love them for what they are and not what they were supposed to be
