Quaritch impressed Jake Sully deeply and made Jake a bargain that, in return for intel on the Na'vi, he would talk to the RDA corporate executives and get approval for Jake to receive the expensive treatment for his spinal injury, which would return the use of his legs

I had a 1st sgt that acted extremely like the colonel. He wasn’t a bad guy just super gun ho. He came off extremely tough and hard, but he took care of his men. The guy was a definition of what a leader was. Professional and caring at the same time. I remember I got in a horrible accident and was rushed to the ICU. I wake up at 2 am and here is my 1st sgt in full uniform sitting next to me telling me to get better and relax no need to push yourself. He also told me no matter what your other bosses say, I’ll make you you’re given more than enough time to heal. I got you.

I always liked that they didn't make Quaritch a two-dimensional villain. He's got some redeeming qualities that make him more interesting. Even if he is nominally the villain of the piece he both makes this promise to Jake and (so far as we know) comes very close to actually delivering on it which isn't something a stereotypical 'villain' would do.

Fun fact: the human race and Colenel Qauritch wasn’t gonna be evil villains in the movie, there is a deleted scene were Tsu’Tey killed humans and Colonel Qauritch made a justify act to burn their home tree, that’s why he refer them as savages, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gd99o8Zou9KXZJc.html here’s the deleted scene that showed the human wasn’t evil
@HaggisDruid
@HaggisDruid Жыл бұрын
@@Cyxap1844 Well either way, humans came to the Na'vi's planet and started taking their resources and demolishing their land, and they were always going to burn home tree down and bulldoze it for unobtainium whether the Na'vi left or not. Not exactly very diplomatic. Quadritch gives Jake three months to convince them to move, not out of kindness, but because it would look very bad back home on the news if people found out they were killing the natives for resources, he strategically has to mitigate damage and maintain PR for the company, and also because 3 months of intel would help him win the battle. Giving Jake his legs back was just to motivate him. Quadritch is loyal to the mission, but he has no issue, if not actually enjoys, killing the Na'vi when he can justify it. That's not a good guy haha. Na'vi killed humans because humans rolled up with weapons and started destroying their home lol. You'd do the same in their shoes, at least I'd assume. And remember, every soldier here is a hired gun, this is not a government operation. They all chose to work for a corporation.

@@carpediem9750 Okay you know what, I am gonna set the record straight for you. Watch the entire movie again and you will see that not once did Colonel Quaritch ever lie. As a matter of fact, Jake Sully was the one who lied to him- Sully never even did what Quaritch asked (tell the Na'vi about the reason the humans are there- to mine the unobtainium.) This is why the RDA attacked- because Jake was ignoring a starving Earth because he wanted to clap dem alien cheeks. It's obvious that Quaritch is brave- he was willing to throw himself into the heart of the conflict. As a matter of fact, he was one of the first with their boots on the ground as you will have heard in this video. He was tasked with the protection of all the humans on Pandora for a reason. He was, after all, head of Pandora's security.

@@vitoriadias7990 Every single human character in this movie good guys and bad guys is interesting, complex and compelling as characters. From the cynical professor trying to work with the short sighted corporate boss after her failed peace attempts ended in a war that cost the lives of all her Na'vi students, to the protagonist who is a war veteran who lost control of his limbs and is caught between two sides while lamenting of a hopeless world, to the main villain who is a soldier whose traumatic experiences in battle and years of diplomatic failure brought out the worst in him at just the wrong time. The Na'vi characters on the other hand are depicted as a bunch of cliches from love interest, spiritual leader, to jealous ex boyfriend who ultimately redeems himself. All things we've seen multiple times in every other movie in the last thirty years. Not to mention just how out of place the Na'vi are in an alien moon full of glowing flying jellyfish, trees that store people's consciousness and have a hive mind, six limbed orangutans and so on. Replace the Na'vi with a human tribe that settled there decades ago and the story won't change. All the CGI in the world doesn't change the fact that their depiction is essentially as the characters from Dances with wolves but in space.

Yeah i think the thing for me was i overlooked the forced message of "navi are people too." was the fact that humans are more diplomatic and understanding than we give them credit for. A cut quote from the movie: "Spare us your pity, alien. You gush about your connection with nature, your primal wisdom, but what has it brought you? Where are your marvels of engineering? Your voyages of discovery? Your great insight into the nature of the universe? Even at our basest, when we dressed as you do, dwelt as you do, hunted as you do, lived as you do, we did more than merely survive. We built wonders. We made great journeys. We forged epics. You have not. You speak so proudly of the plugs dangling from your skulls, little realizing that they are but strings and you puppets. What little you have accomplished you attribute to the wisdom of your goddess, who is nothing but the voices of your dead echoing for all eternity. She moors you to the past, serving as a leash that keeps you as little better than apes, sad parodies of civilization that lack that special spark to become something more. We have come to your world in search of resources. Whether your actions drive us back or we take what we want and move on, the outcome is the same. We will depart from your wretched planet, leaving you behind. And in a thousand years, you will not have changed from this contact with another world. You will remain in your trees, hunting your prey, communing with your goddess, until your sun burns out and your world dies. And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us."

One of the things I wish they conveyed more was how dire the situation on Earth was. Literally the entire human race placed all it’s egg in one basket.

Not that familiar with the story of the film. Did Jake Sully really betray his own kind just for some blue chick?

@@mohamedalahmadani5174 yes. Human population size is 20 billion, ice caps have fully melted, all natural mineral resources have ran dry, natural wildlife is practically non-existent, and conflicts over few resources are constant. Majority of the population is fed by algae farms that is delivered by a global transit system that is run by the mineral unobtanium, which is why the humans are on Pandora.

@@kcawks8585 wow, this completely changed how I view Avatar 2 now. Jake’s been chilling with the Na’vi while his home planet of billions were probably starving to death. His whole mission in the first film was to establish a relationship between the two sides so that trade can happen, and he messed it up big time. He wasn’t the hero after all lol.

@@mohamedalahmadani5174 Watch the movie before just going along with people who have no idea what they’re talking about. This dude Quaritch killed thousands of Navi children and families. Destroyed their home for a mineral without waiting for Sully to give him to go ahead. If you know there’s people living in that tree and you’re going to destroy it wouldn’t you idk check in with the person suppose to negotiate before you go in blind guns blazing?? That’s why Jake switched sides

And I heard some movie critics say that Quarich was a 1 dimensional character in this movie and the second one at least gave him some personality.
