In case yall weren't around during this time, this movie was so popular because this was the first time you ever saw close realism cgi used so abundantly, movies had it here and there but this one was full of it and it blew a lot of people's minds. Now we see it in all Marvel movies but this was the first of its kind back then

Just re-watched Avatar 1 for I don't know how many times. But I gotta say I still enjoys it everytime. After watching the way of water I couldn't control myself to re-watched it's first 1. If you guys haven't watched it yet. You are missing out your golden opportunity.

still remember when my mom and dad came back from theater in 2009 and they were shocked, everyone applauded after the movie ended and stayed until the end… so hyped this movie is being re released and can’t wait to watch it in theaters!

James Cameron says most of his concepts he gets in his dreams. This whole movie was writtenby him. The guy has some exceptional divinity in him. He's extremely intelligent and has always mixed technology with a touch of human essence be it Terminator, Abyss and Avatar.

Avatar had to be rewatched like I just did in prep for The Way of Water. Aside from some small things I didn’t like, it is an an achievement visually and I’m still shocked it’s the highest grossing film ever. 13 years later, we get a sequel that I’m excited to see. 🌊💙 It somehow took me so long to update this after seeing the sequel, but here’s what I thought of it: Avatar: The Way of Water succeeds as a sequel that returns us to Pandora. There’s some stupid plot annoyances and scenes that go on for way too long, but I was never bored and the visuals are once again impressive.

@@jonasnathaniel28 It will probably beat it, but the time it's taking to reach it isn't a comparable factor. Avatar relied on word of mouth - it was a standalone film with no prequels to hype it up so audiences had to see it then tell their friends to see it. It also had a later China release. Avatar only had an 11% drop from opening weekend to weekend 3 which is crazy - it's box office was generated over time. Endgame has had 11 years to hype itself up and so its opening weekend was insane. But it had a 59% drop from opening weekend. The way they're generating their money is so incredibly different it's hard to predict.

also endgame had 2 directors, used pre-existing characters, had multiple heroes, and a 10 year setup period. avatar was all original. original story, characters, execution, etc. so i'd say it's still more impressive

I loved the worldbuilding for this movie. The Na'Vi have their language! That is amazing! I hope people rediscover this movie. I love it. It is a gem.

In my opinion, Jake Sully's character form the 1st one to its sequel had changed so much. He has so much bravery and conviction from the 1st one. I hope the next sequel will be a redemption for him

Well in the first one Jake had nothing to really loose. In the second he had everything to loose. He wasn't just thinking for himself but for his entire family who aren't old enough to properly defend themselves. In the first movie he started off not really caring for much of anything. To be honest he was just going with the flow. He never really truly picked a side wether it was the military or the scientists in the beginning.

Is it just me?, the more i watch this movie, the more i'll enjoy it and like it, which is kind of weird cause Avatar is a good film at best. It was it's groundbreaking visual effects that were breathtaking that made the film 2x better. One of very few films i regret that i didn't watch it movie in theaters on IMAX 3D. Fun fact: Avatar made more money on IMAX 3D than regular

At this point, I don't care if Avatar 2 makes more money than Endgame anymore. All I want is for the movie to finally come out and be a big success so that the other sequels will be made. But if it does end up becoming the #1 highest grossing film of all time, then that will be surprising.

The reason Avatar 2 is taking so long is because James Cameron is shooting the film in higher frame rate which as he stated takes the glass out of the window to reality. This would imply that either a downgraded version would be required for release in majority of theatres across the world or this movie would be a pioneer in the attempts to get a higher frame rate into cinemas worldwide. Avatar 2, 3 and 4 have all confirmed to be released back to back 2017, 2018 and 2019 filming non stop. I think it's one the most ambitious film projects ever undertaken. Similar to the LOTR trilogy.

Cameron wrote this movie as Project 880 in 1994 before coming up with the name Avatar and he wanted to film it in 1997 for a 2000 release date but decided that the technology wasn't on par or there just to satisfy his notions and had to wait until the technology gets better

I remember seeing this trailer for the first time. It’s almost like it has 3 acts, each act changes into the next signaled by a change in the music. The trailer gets more and more fantastical and over the top as it goes on and I think that’s what made this trailer so enticing. I haven’t seen a trailer like this since Inception, so many absolutely amazing scenes shown with zero context made me anxious to see it in theaters, and it didn’t disappoint.

WOW. This brings me back, I remember christmas 2009 sitting in that cinema and realising my life was about to peak. Truly sitting in the theatre to watch James Camerons Avatar (2009) elevated my life to its very zenith. I don't think i will ever experience a movie this impactful, or intuitive to my life or to the world. Truly the Pulp Fiction of its year. This movie made me blast serious rope multiple times in the theatre. This. Is. Cinema. Hats off to you James Cameron, I cant wait to show this film to generations to come. I can only hope that Avatar 2-4 will be so transcendent that i will feel i have been whisked to pandora once more. We salute this legend. Poppa dragon signing off (to watch Avatar again!!!)
