They got renewed for second and third season so the story continues 🎉🎉

I've seen a lot of people criticize how Aang doesn't learn any waterbending but I feel like I'm in the minority that didn't mind that. This season was definitely focused on Aang accepting his role as the Avatar given the tremendous guilt over "running away." I like that it feels like by the end of this season he's more determined to actually commit to the roles and duties of the Avatar, especially now that he's met 3 other avatars with 3 different ideologies on what it means to be the avatar. Like now he's going into season 2 ready to shape what it means to be Avatar Aang. And since they never set up going to the Northern Water Tribe as a means for him to learn waterbending, but to protect them from an impending disaster, I thought that was written around this characterization just fine. Plus, I'm hoping if season 2 is just a bit longer, like 10 episodes at least, we can easily have Aang learn waterbending in the first two overtly, and secondary to earthbending for the rest of the season (kinda like how he divyed time for both in the original Book 2 anyway). He catches onto waterbending very quickly canonically, and we can easily have Katara still be jealous of how fast he masters it when compared to herself because I know that was a part of Katara's character that was sorely missed. And honestly, same with JeongJeong's story imo! That can easily be included as a subplot in season 2, where Aang feels the need to master all the elements quickly, if he comes to learn of the comet plot that is only developed at the end of this season rather than informed to him by Roku like in Book 1 of the original show. And JeongJeong's plot was not about him not wanting to master any elments in the first place, just developing his reluctance towards firebending iirc. Like I know a lot of this is hopeful thinking on my part, but I don't see them as having written themselves into any corners thus far where they have absolutely sacrificed parts of the characters/story to streamline Book 1. The only thing we likely won't get is the library as all the important elements of that are already in here. Though that makes me wonder how they'll work the Appa story at that point. Could be another really interesting, fun blend of stories and original content like Episodes 6/7 were in this adaptation with the Blue Spirit rescue, Zuko's backstory from The Storm, and Heibai/Koh spiriting away people. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the show for the most part, because while I also criticize certain decisions (I think the direction for Katara should've been much, much better because the actress is not being driven to show her skill much here, episode 4 felt very noticeably clunky, etc.) I thought it was an enjoyable ride! I actually think this is the first time I really cared about Yue as a character, because Amber Midthunder is great and made her such a likeable character in the short time she was given (and the tweaks with her connection to the spirit world was a nice touch). I think now that the world is firmly developed and the characters are set in their places, we can really delve into more of the smaller details about their relationships and characters that we might've sacrificed in this season for time, outside of Zuko and Iroh who I think were done amazingly well. Like Dallas Liu IS Zuko LOL! And same, I've been on an ATLA binge since watching this adaptation again haha. It was fun watching your discussions and reactions, and hoping season 2 will be even better!

Dallas Liu (Zuko's actor) also said that he would like to see 10-12 episodes for S2 and S3, and basically everyone of us hope that. And I agree that they should have showed Aang training with Katara. 2 or 3 scenes of 2-3 minutes would have been good.

No complaint's besides Aang not learning waterbending & Katara being a girl boss knowing to fight like a master ??? Yup no complaint's. The show was good not gonna lie.

This finale hit so hard my goodness seeing this show in live action was phenomenal and the stare at the camera (earth bending 😉) thank you so much boys I don't have Netflix so I was only able to see from you 🤝🏻

Can't wait for the next seasons. RIP my boy Hahn!

I loved you guys and your reactions! New Subscriber here. I agree that we need 10 episodes per season so that the pacing doesn't seem sooooo fast. The series needs to breathe more. I don't think we need many of the "filler" side quests but we do need more time with the main cast.

With animation, some character traits are accepted as is, while with live-action, we have to be able to relate to the characters with their actions. Initially, I wouldn't say I liked how they make Azula a petty and jealous sibling to Zucko because of their father, Fire Lord Ozai. She wanted his approval instead of her psychotic self, just as Fire Lord Ozai should have been about the ambition for power and nothing else. The show gave a humanized version of them to appeal to us, the audience, especially the uninitiated.

As far as your criticisms, go with Aang to his defense I don’t ever remember him actually water bending at all in season one. It was only when season two came, he started practicing with Katara then shortly after the blind bandit, who we all know who that is started Aang on his earth bending training. So it was simultaneously that Ang was actually learning how to water bend, and earth bend at the same time in season two. And truly if I remember correctly. Aang didn’t episode in season three. So honestly, I feel like that’s an unfair criticism of Ang and his betrayal in season one. and it only makes sense that guitar got the water, bending, scroll from grand grand opposed to finding it halfway through the season by pirates. Not to mention, you’re telling me she would’ve been a complete master with master Paku training her at the most maybe a week before the fire nation attacked. we all need to be realistic and we also need to keep in mind. They had a budget of $15 million per episode. That’s why I thought everybody criticizing it the way they did giving bad reviews maybe they may not want to do season two and three. But with some people you can’t please everybody although I liked your guises overall assessment, I like you am a true fan and there were some things that they did F up on‼️🙏🏼
