The Revs last masterpiece. Hits me in the feels every time I hear it. A7X FoREVEr!

When we put our hearts into our music it is more uniting than almost every other thing I can think of.

It was an intentional "accidental" overdose because he was already dying and wanted to go out while he was still on top.

Love your reaction Jarvis. Not sure how much you know about A7X but this song Fiction was originally named Death by the writer of the song Jimmy "The Reverend" Sullivan. The Rev was the drummer and also provided amazing backup vocals. He wrote this song 3 days before being found dead. It's as though he knew the end was near. The Rev was 28 years old. His amazing legacy will live on forever. His death was ruled an accidental overdose of alcohol and opioid painkillers. The Rev did suffer from an enlarged heart which caused him pain daily. RIP JIMMY. FoREVer

The Rev recorded this song on his own and gave it to the lead singer 3 days before his death. It was mixed and all the other instruments and the lead singers voice were added for the finished product you were listening to. No one wants to admit it - especially the band - but I believe Jimmy meant to leave this world on his own terms.

There's so much visceral sadness in this song and it's cool to see somebody hear it for the first time. You really get that sense of absolute grief and the different stages. You should check out St James by Avenged Sevenfold too. Jimmy (the drummer, who wrote this song and recorded some of the vocals before he passed) was more than a band member to these guys, so they wrote a song about him, commemorating their memory of him.

JD you did the REV proud with your review. Some want to think this was a suicide note to the band members. I like to think that the REV knew his death was imminent. He had a severe enlarged heart and Dr's told him that he would not live beyond his 30's. REV was never one to shy away from drugs and alcohol saw and felt the writing on the wall. We are all blessed that he was able to finish writing this amazing song just 3 days before being found dead. RIP 4REVer

You might want to react to their other - hit you right in the heart - song titled 'So Far Away'. It's dedicated to their late drummer, The Rev. This song 'Fiction' was the last song that The Rev contributed & handed to the band 3 days prior to his death.

The Rev gave this to the band to be the last song on the Nightmare album, three days before he died. He wrote the whole song, drums, piano (he was a really good piano player) and vocals. The band decided to leave his vocals in the final track. He had drugs in his system when he died but one doctor said his enlarged heart was a likely contributor to his death. Okay, so...not a suicide. That's what makes this song so eerie yet beautiful at the same time. But some of the lyrics seem to be pointing directly to him knowing he was gonna die. It's a weird, eerie, beautiful, yet sad story behind this song which makes it 1000 times more powerful.

Jimmy recorded that organ at the end. Legend has it that the vibrato of the organ was meant to fall off like the beat of his heart. Turn it up and listen to the organ all the way till the end
