Not the biggest Avenged fan myself, but, Matt is one of the rare singers than can cover Anselmo's anger well. I've seen singers nail the notes word for word but don't emote the song well.

I've watched Pantera live 1992 with this song. Phil couln't even nail the high notes. Matt just did it. He nailed the studio version of this song. I'm a metal fan and fan on both bands. I know much of u hate a7x because the way they look , but , just listen to their music. M.Shadows is one of the greatest heavy metal frontmen today (P.S frontman doesn't always scream or growl)

I was at this show. Soooooooo fucking good. I had chills running through my entire body from the first line, Matt's vocals sounded every bit as incredible as this video would indicate. And that guitar tone..the solos, Vinnie's drumming (RIP). Epic.

Shadows has probably the best voice in metal. His clean singing is powerful and raspy with an immense range, and he can belt out incredible screams :D

People need to just listen to the song and stop complaining about if A7x is better than Pantera or if Pantera is better than A7x.

Well, I mean Gates is one of the best guitarists of this era. Much more skilled than any other band around. He doesn't have the same tone as Dime, which is evident; he has his own goddamn tone. Stop being so critical and just appreciate the fact that they essentially nailed a heavy metal classic by the kings of heavy metal.

A7x is by far the best modern metal/rock band and they did an amazing cover of this. They’re the ones leading the rock/metal movement for a reason

just accept the fact that avenged sevenfold will be a new king of heavy metal ..

And no wonder AVENGED won Best Live Band...and why I will continue to see them every time they come to the east coast! Seen them 5 times already and it never gets old!!! That sounded fucking great...everyone was on cue and spot on!!!

Avenged Sevenfold is an extremely talented band that doesn't always get the recognition they deserve when being mentioned as musical pioneers. They can play tons of different styles and Shadows has an insane vocal range, he must have worked hard to get to where he is now, because he's still able to scream, while also being an extremely melodic singer.

Even though I DON'T hate A7X music - Its not something I'd purposely throw on but.... Damn! Shadows nailed it... Very impressed. I may actually listen to some of their stuff now. Maybe... Awesome cover though

pantera is still in my opinion one of the hardest bands out there, regardless of all the shit thats happend, and avenged seven fold has in my heart earned a place right up there with them, they have stayed true to there sound, and in my opinion never sold out. so glad that they weathered one of the many storms and are still here jammin today. r.i.p rev, you were so funny the first time i met you guys, florida 2006, the rev,was eating like a roast beef sandwhich, dropped it in the dirt and dust,reached down ,kinda put it back together and ate it like it was nothing, love you dudes, love you Vinnie

Amazing job by Shadows, he managed to achieve the rage of the original studio recording, imitating Anselmo's voice, while keeping a flavour of his style. It can be especially heard on the higher notes (G4 and above). Awesome performance. I only hope that his technique is better than Phil's , cause he is in the top three best rock/metal singers of our times (alongside Corey from Slipknot and David from Distubed) and I really do hope he won't destroy his voice as fast as Phil did.

I'll never understand people saying that "All covers are shit because they don't match the awesomeness of the original". Yeah, so? They're not supposed to match the original but to a personal spin of another artist to an already existing song. Take for example any of Disturbed's covers or Motörheads cover of Sympathy for the devil. And covers help spread awareness for other bands. I wouldn't even know what Pantera is if it wasn't for A7X's cover of Walk and that could be said for any number of bands. All you elitists need to get off your high horses when it comes to song covers, especially when talking metal.
