I see you made this video a year ago. I've been looking into bikes recently and watched your review of the Ramblas before this one. In this one I noticed right away that the motor seems much quieter on the Aventure 2, and the bike doesn't have the annoying rattle/clattering sound that I've heard in multiple Ramblas reviews. Thanks for sharing these reviews.
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty Ай бұрын
You are correct. It doesn't make the rattling noise but the Ramblas is ton of tun on trails like this. I feel I can do big drops and jumps with the Ramblas and also it would approved at most single tracks. My Aventure 2, not so much. I wouldn't trust for big jumps or drops.

That video just confirmed what I knew all along- MTB riding isn't for me. LOL I got "motion sickness" watching but since I have never been on a trail, I couldn't help but keep looking. Exciting & good to know how it went with that bike. I have heard torque sensors were not good for hills, so now I am a little confused..... I want a small/folding bike due to space constraints when storing during winter but I also need gravel/off-road/snow/ice worthy tyres on a bike that can take a few steep hills on my way to/from work but at a reasonable price that evt. can be tuned to conform to "EU" standards. It isn't easy to find.

@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
I love my Nomad 1. I was riding it just the other day. One thing I have noticed about having a torque sensor is that you have to put more effort into it. When I retired from the Army, they awarded me as 80% service disabled because of my back, knees, grip and other things. I notice that if I ride the Aventure 2 a lot, my knee will start acting up some due to me not quite used to shifting into the right gear. I would say that since you don't do the crazy stuff I do, that you stick with the Nomad, especially if you have any knee issues that a torque sensor might aggravate while getting used to it.

@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty Жыл бұрын
@@rayrussell6258 Ah. I would go with the Aventure 1... its price got reduced and it has 80Nm of torque. I just looked up the Trek Allant 8S and that a huge difference in price. That Trek also has much smaller battery (625W compared to Aventons 720W). I see the 8S as being much more of a trail bike and I wouldn't see it being that great in the city. Although I could be wrong. I also don't see where it has a throttle either. I myself just purchased a Giant Trance X E+3 but I only plan on using it on the trails. If that is all you plan on doing with yours, then I do feel it would be better than the Aventure.

@rayrussell6258
@rayrussell6258 Жыл бұрын
@@scotthardesty yes, lack of throttle is an issue, as well as price. I haven't ridden a bike with the wider tires yet. My use will be on country pavement roads and on shoulder lane along 4-lane highway to connect with county roads, nothing off-road. I need more speed on that highway segment. I was impressed by the test ride I got to take on the Allant, but I'm seeing lots of videos of Aventure getting above 30 mph. With Allant I only got up to 25 mph on test ride. I was just beginning to look then, was thinking Electra brand until that day. The torque on Allant was much better than the Electra. @@scotthardesty so this means there are durability issues with the rotors and pads? How many miles have you ridden this ebike so far?
@scotthardesty

@@rayrussell6258 No. It just means that there was an issue with either the pads or the rotors from the factory and they sent me new ones. I have not had the bike long enough to say there is a durability issue.

@scotthardesty

I have not been able to ride this bike near as much as I have wanted. Due to me constantly reviewing new bikes. I have just under 500 miles and I have had no real issues once we took care of that brake noise. This is still the bike I compare all the fat tire e-bikes in my head when doing reviewing them. For 26" fat tire bikes, this one is still the king in my eyes.

Love the bike design kzfaq.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube.All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.
