One lesson I've learnt from billionaires is to always put your money to work, and diversifying your investments. I'm planning to invest about $200k of my savings in stocks this year, and I hope I make profits.

You are right. The best approach I feel is to diversify investments- by spreading investments across different asset classes like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown.

It's impressive how much you saved during your working years, a feat not many achieve in a lifetime. Now that you're retired and rely on your investments, it's wise to redistribute your capital to mitigate risks during market fluctuations. Consulting a financial advisor can help simplify this process.

Yeah, I’m also closing in on retirement, and I have benefitted much from using a financial advisor. I didn’t really start early, so I knew the compound interest of index fund investing would not work for me. Funny how I pulled in more profit than some of my peers who have been investing for many years.

Went from living with my parents going to community college to being debt free earning 100-115k five years later. So much of it was luck and just saying “yes” to opportunities I wasn’t even looking for. You don’t know what your future holds! Hindsight is 20/20, but when you’re in your ‘building’ phase, you may feel like a failure because you’re lost. Be open to what opportunities life throws at you. I had initially planned to retire at 62, work part-time, and save money, but the impact of high prices on various goods and services has significantly disrupted my retirement plan. I'm worried about whether those who experienced the 2008 financial crisis had it easier than I currently am. The volatility of the stock market is a concern as my income has decreased, and I fear that I won't be able to contribute as much as before, potentially jeopardizing my retirement savings.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. As long as things are amiable, I’d live with them as long as possible! Not paying rent/mortgage payments and instead investing that money is so pivotal! I lived at home until I was 24. I finally made over 50k/yr with a raise and could afford to move out, I did and then was paycheck to paycheck for a couple years before I could get my income up and had no margin. I still forced myself to invest 10% of my paycheck, but it was very tight. I made less living at home, but had way less stress and enjoyed my life a lot more. I am doing well now financially, but only because of God’s favor on my life. Moving out with a massive margin of cash is definitely recommended.

I haven't been throwing it around at new cars, giant houses, and European vacations, but my expense-to-income ratio has been so low I haven't needed to worry about penny pinching. Invest judiciously, keep a stop loss figure. Shuffle between debt and equity wherever the ratio goes too off your target. As for the target, I recommend a Ratio like this Debt % should be equal to your age in years. If you are 20, debt is 20%, reset in equity. If the market falls or rises drastically, your debt % will change, which you should rebalance to 20% and bring back equity to 80%. Thus you would have bought low or booked profit depending on if it was a crash or a bull run.

Effective personal finance management is more important than the amount of money saved, regardless of whether income is earned through job or investment. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over $2.8million.

Finding financial advisors like Marisa Breton Dollard who can assist you on things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded, going over tax benefits, ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.

I'm 32 and just starting school. I've been on disability for pretty much all my adult life and unable to work. If I manage to handle school, I'll try working again. I'm starting late compared to others but I also have a really supportive family and partner. I'm in a very lucky position all things considered. The delay in doing all the normal stuff that I would have done in my 20s is that I have a better understanding of myself, the world and my goals. in 4 years I'll have a degree in a field that pays well that I'm interested in with lots of options. If you're in a tough spot, keep on going, you never know when things will get better, even if you don't expect them to

Yep! Just keep pushing forward. There's really no timeline. But sounds like you have an exciting future ahead. 😁 I kinda had a similar delay. I went through a lot of physical trauma in my 20s. I mean I probably could have done better. Just survival was more important back then than thriving. So I didn't really start my career until I was almost 30.

Im 22. I make $28.68/hr which comes out to $60k/yr but I work OT so YTD I’m at $42k. I also live with my parents but I barely started getting my shit in check cuz of all these financial videos I’ve been watching. Thankfully I was already investing into my 401K for the passed 2yrs cuz of my job so ig I got a $37k head start. I brought down my 401K contribution from 15% to 6% which my employer also matched at 6% and started using that extra money to contribute $583.34/mo into my 401K using S&P 500 and Nvidia. And $1.2k/mo into my emergency fund earning 4.6% APY. Ima continue doing this and kind of start taking my spending habits using the money i got leftover. This month my spending is high tho cuz im going to Mexico and bought things that weren’t necessary but i was still able to contribute the same amount to my accounts.

Gotta give @George Kamel a lot of credit on this video, reviewing INDIVIDUAL incomes. Somehow over the past 2 decades, the income metric has morphed from "individual" to "household" income, meaning 2 or more. Which leads to an erroneous comparisons, and a misunderstanding for the younger generations.

I would like to see these statistics further elaborated on in a study. It would be more intriguing to see if a super majority of people in the 50th and 75th percentile live in excessively more expensive areas as they go up, making it to where their financial situations are actually equal. On that same note, I would like to see the average hours worked for each category, I also feel like it’s likely that the 25th percentile has a much lower average hours worked. It would be interesting to see if statistically we could see that out of these percentiles, everything is pretty darn even across the board until you hit the wealthy.

Those numbers are really interesting to get a feeling for people who live in the US. For me, who doesn't it's just a "nice to know". For me personally, I would finde such a number crunch very interesting for a few countries, lets say: - USA - England - Switzerland - Japan - Australia Just for an example and then also give a relative feeling for the "average cost of living" so the numbers of income gets a relativity to each other. Have a good one and until next time.

We started out in the 25th percentile. But with promotions, moving between companies (not a job hopper, but I did change a few times) we wound up solidly in the 90th percentile. So we've done ok. But we had to do a lot of back end investing as we didn't have a lot of money to invest when we were younger. We did invest, but when you're making $30K in 1990's dollars you're not going to be investing bucket loads of money. So avoiding lifestyle creep is essential if like us you need to make up for lost time. Due to compounding those early dollars are mighty expensive to replace a couple decades later.
