David is so well spoken. You guys compliment each other, as well. It’s only episode 1 - but I feel your podcast will help humanize the people view infront of a screen more, which will hopefully help viewers/followers be more empathetic and think twice before commenting something hurtful (for example). I have a whole new respect for David, and I love that his life experience has made him a more kinder, understanding human and officer.

David has gone through a LOT. We don't know him as well as you do because we only see him on videos you post on tiktok, but dang, I can't imagine the amount of self work and effort this man has had to do to heal from all his childhood trauma, to be such a loving, supportive, providing, and sweet husband to you and father to your kids. Kudos to David, really. Takes a lot be like him. Cheers Avery

as someone who grew up pentecostal and is still living in that faith, it was so interesting to hear david’s pov and experience. personally with full faith in God, my needs are met. i also am experiencing a time of financial struggle and when i asked for help, it was given to me. i know not every church or person is like that. but also the times i didn’t ask for help and just struggled alone, i went to God with my struggles and only He was able to help me have peace about the situation. a life of faith is not always an easy one. and i have family too that struggled with addiction to drugs and alcohol. but by Gods grace they are doing better and in His hands! no other person could’ve saved them but God. i sympathize with David and have heard so many similar stories. so happy he is able to live a happy life with avery and their family!!

Thank you for normalizing setting boundaries/distancing yourself from family when the environment is toxic. People do not understand why my husband and I don't talk to his family anymore, but the environment isn't great and I refuse to bring my children around it. This was such a real and amazing episode, and I can't wait for the rest! Congrats on the new pod, Avery!

I resonated so much with David’s families history with alcohol & substance abuse. I sometimes catch myself feeling guilty when I have a drink or going through periods of time without wanting to drink because I think of family I have lost to alcohol & I wonder if it will ever affect me the same. My family on both sides have addictive personalities, drugs on one side & alcohol on the other. You guys are an inspiration, I’m half way through my BSN program right now & im looking forward to having kids of my own & a strong family dynamic like yours! ❤

David’s story is so relatable to me, it’s amazing to see the man he has turned into, even from a strangers perspective. My grandparents were there for me in my darkest days and if it weren’t for them, I don’t know where I’d be now. It’s really comforting to know that I’m not alone and that you can really grow and become a better person even after situations like David and I have been through. He’s an inspiration to his children for sure and I just know, even though I don’t know you guys personally is probably the best dad The girls, Ziggy and Stevie could ask for. Love you avery, your support for David means more than you’ll ever know, going on my experience would have been amazing to have someone like you in my Side ❤

Omggg I love this! I love you Avery. You have really helped me find confidence, self love, guidance in motherhood. I’m a new mom. I have a one year old and a 3 month old. Both c sectioned so finding your tik tok that day really changed a lot. ✨ You’re one woman I admire and look up to. I’m 24 almost 25, hearing you and David talk about your struggles when you met and had ziggy is so relatable. My fiancé and I are currently going through that and it’s the scariest fucking thing. But watching your videos on tik tok give me laughter, joy, excitement. So thank you! I work full time so does my fiancé to provide for our family. So again I’m so proud of you! 💖✨🫶🏼 I’m excited for more.

Love this! I grew up very similar to David and went to Bible college (which had insane rules!) and got married at 21 to a PK and became a youth pastor’s wife. One day I woke up and was like why am I living by all these rules that I don’t think God necessarily wants everyone to live by? My ex wanted me to stay home and have babies, when all I wanted at the time was to be a nurse and he didn’t like that. Now I’m divorced and a travel nurse and living my best life..looking for my mister right ❤ You guys are inspiring! I’m so sorry that the church you guys went to gave you a bad taste of religion..I have found that Jesus is the only one I can count on and have a much healthier view of God now. He is my father and loves and forgives me no matter what I do and I feel like the way I grew up made it seem like God is sitting on His throne judging all of us..which is not true. Now I feel like I’m actually fulfilling my purpose and showing love to others with my career 🙂 Anyways, wish you and your family the best! ❤

This was such a good podcast!! Thank you David for being open and vulnerable about your past. I’m sorry you had to go through what you went through growing up, but it’s so awesome to see that your outlook isn’t woe is me but instead, this is what made me who I am and I’m stronger for it! I’m also sorry that your experience with Christians and churches was so…not what it should be. I can’t speak for all Christians, but speaking for myself that was not my experience at all and it upsets me that this is what all the churches you experienced were like…the Christianity and God that I personally know is about relationship not religion…we’re a family. Like right now we have a few people going through chemotherapy…we have a chat room or 50 people on a food drop off, school drop off/pick up rotation. We’ve had people open up empty rooms in their homes to young married couples who had it financially rough at the beginning…there’s so many more examples but I hope that your experience doesn’t permanently turn you or anyone else who listened off to Christianity because there are genuine, caring, real Christian’s out there. Sending so much love

Loved this episode!! Makes me so sad that you both had the most negative experience in church on the behalf of other “Christian’s” actions. As a Christian myself and a pastors kid coincidentally, I didn’t find my relationship with god until around 21 and went through a lot of negative experiences like this. I just hope you know there are people out there who not only love Jesus but truly show that love to other people too. There is healthy church community out there and I pray that you are able to come across that in your life if you ever desire that. I feel like Cecily and her fam are such a great example of that so I’m glad you know her too 🫶🏾 Love your podcast Avery
