Swiss Watch Company ... especially frustrating when you’re cleaning up messes you didn’t make. I can’t say enough good things about the customer service here. Luminox deserves the positive press I’ll continue to give them on my channel. I have more videos to come. Thanks for watching and continually supporting the channel. So the original you reviewed was a Luminox Sentry. I owned that exact watch. It is no longer made and it was the cheapest of the Luminox Land series. I wore it for many years until I snorkeled with it in Hawaii and it filled with water (was supposed to replace water seal O-rings every couple of years and never did). It was cheap, lightweight with a mineral crystal, plastic caseback and plastic case with minimal luminous tritium markers which kept the price down. They sent you a way upgraded model to compare it to. That was likely a newer marketing person who realized the Luminox Sentry is no longer made, but didn't realize that it was made at one point. So yes, I agree with your original review on the Sentry model that it was a very unimpressive watch. But it was never supposed to be impressive. It was the cheapest model and a way to put a Luminox into the hands of people looking strictly at the lower price point. I never really liked my Sentry, but it worked until I pushed it too far and didn't keep up the maintenance as described earlier. The more expensive models of Luminox, such as my Atacama Field which I have been wearing for 5 years, are much nicer. My summary is that your original review was not on a fake but instead was on a real model that was very low end and entry level and I agree it was unimpressive. Mine came in the same fabric case as yours and was identical in every way. They sent you a nicer model and they know they dumped the Sentry series a while back. My guess is that they realized it received lack luster reviews such as your original review and decided that the model did more to damage the brand's image than what it captured in sales at that lower price point (I agree). That price point was replaced by the Luminox Leatherback Sea Turtle which is now the cheapest Luminox watch (still slightly better than the Sentry ever was). It looks like what they sent you is a Master Carbon chronograph edition (at least $400+ USD). I don't know what else to tell you. I know I am right because I owned the Sentry that you reviewed ($175-$215) and I own a Luminox Atacama Field ($695 when I purchased it). Feel free to reach out to me with questions. Maybe we could put together a follow up video on this subject.

I think you are right. To copy a watch to that level of detail and sell it for 200$ with a profit just isn't practical. I would like to see the teardown af this 2 watches

@@epreadetotcan't say I agree, there have been plenty of fake Chinese Gshocks flying around, and those are of models that sell below $200. If a factory can produce a "$200 watch" for $5 a unit and sell it directly from their factory (common in Chinese factories to cut out a middleman) by the hundreds for $15 a unit to any merchant who in turn will sell for $90-$150 a unit on an online platform, it's well everyone's time.

I have 3 Luminox watches. The first one my wife gave me for fathers day in 1991. It still works and keeps accurate time. The vials are no longer bright but still glow enough to see in the dark. I'm 69 years old and have had dozens of watches over the years and my luminox watches have held up better than any other watch I've ever owned. If you look, you can find a Luminox factory tour on the web with a little looking.

The polycarbonate case is different for the two watches your comparing even with authentic Luminox models. So your reasoning for it being a fake is not accurate. What you should do is send the watch you think it’s fake to Luminox and let them tell you if it’s real or not.

Generally people who complain about these watches, got'em from amazon or ebay or something online, and later are disappointed that they're low quality. You can say a lot of bad things about Luminox like fact that they're overpriced or navy seal marketing which is almost fake, but you cannot deny that legitimate Luminox watches are well-made.

Thanks for uploading this. I ordered a Luminox Sentry online (not from Amazon) and was initially hesitant about my purchase. I’ve watched your previous video and I could definitely see the poor quality & plastic look of the fake watch. I have since received mine and can say with 100% certainty that it’s real. You can SEE the carbon fibers inside of the case material and the lumes are bright & crisp. The blacked out Luminox logo on the watch face has a high quality polished and reflective look. Always remember to buy from an authorized seller and you WON’T be disappointed.

Damn, Joe, this was a great vid... I'm in the middle of researching to buy (most likely) a Luminox Seal SIS watch; and JUST like you, I assumed sure there's fake Rolex's, but honestly I didn't think anyone would be counterfeiting Lumi's! Your thoroughness, thoughtfulness, sincerity, and great overall video really affected me. Kudos, and thanks, man, I'm going thru my pre-purchase research with a whole new outlook now. I know, right?!? I work for the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, so my hands are constantly moving. The next Luminox I get DEFINITELY needs to have a sapphire crystal. Don’t want to chance scratching it. Not sure about some that have the tempered scratch resistant mineral crystal though. But since I do know that I want the sapphire crystal, that narrows down my decision to either a model 3603, a model 3803.C or a model 3813.L. These are the 3 that I’m most attracted to.

there is a law suit against luminox for their watches not being always visible. My son purchased one from their website. It had condensation issue from day 1. Sent it to repair 3 times and nothing got fixed. Then they sent me a new watch with screw down crown. This one also had the same exact condensation issue. He was finally able to return this watch to them and got his money bcs of the law suit.

Funnily enough I actually almost bought a watch from the same seller but had second thoughts after reading the feedback. Glad that it's all ended well and you should actually be able to get ebay to resolve this if you open a case with them.

I love that you did this. Also, now that I think about it. It is waaaaay more lucrative to do a fake Luminox or Casio then a Rolex. 1) Way easier and cheaper to produce. 2) No proprietary movement so they could even use the same movement which as you know are quite cheap in bulk. 3) A much less aware customer base then Rolex that are less likely to ask questions and raise a ruckus. 4) Much wider customer base, so if you produce thousands of plastic Lumi-Fakes at a dollar or 2 a piece and sell them for like $200-$400 your overall profits are much much better then selling a few fake Rollies for a grand.

@@AvgJoeWatchReviews fantastic. I love when new ideas are spawned! It's actually really interesting. I've had my eye on a cool looking Luminox on eBay that was well discounted. After watching your video I became a bit sceptical. Different seller, but definitely some questionable reviews, including one of a Luminox that broke quickly and a complete lack of response from the seller to return requests. Sooo, not exactly watching that one anymore.

The pip on the Sentry was just a luminescent dot, always was supposed to be to save money. That's why the Sentry model also had about half the tritium tubes that more expensive models do. Upgraded models (that don't cost $175 like the Sentry model) often have the tritium insert at the 12 o' clock position with a sapphire covering. The cheap Sentry model had a very plasticy carbon case. The more expensive models have true Glock like high quality polymer case. The tritium tubes are very expensive and are often not included properly on fakes. That original watch was really not fake.

It makes sense to copy lower pricing watches. It is much easier to copy and sell more. Like fake money... the most are not the highest value bank notes.

I have a real one, and I see no indication that yours is a fake. I have a nicer luminox and the case material is indeed different. The sentry series was a budget line, and cutting costs only makes sense. My sentry works great after 11 years, but it is hardly abused or "put to the test" other than wearing in an office setting. They should send you an authentic sentry blackout model, so you can compare apples to apples.

I bought my Luminox 12 years ago from Amazon and it is still going strong. I don’t know if it’s fake or not but I saved a bunch from not buying direct from Luminox and have been very happy with it. The prices direct from Luminox are so high that I would never pay that much for their watch. As much as I like my watch they are not worth the full retail price on the Luminox website.

I don't know if it was mentioned anywhere here in the comments but the Sentry is NOT made of their "Carbonox". Even Amazon advertise the case being made of plastic. Although I am not an expert in any way but I wouldn't rule it a 100% fake. And the Sentry was their more entry level alongside their Colormark line.

You seem like a good man Joe, but I believe that this could be a big learning curve for you bro.You gotta do your due diligence with many,many hours of research "prior" to conducting any type of review in life,...especially if your going to throw something under the bus. Major props to Luminox for taking the high road and showing such class and professionalism. I am truly impressed. They reached out with grace and helped bring further clarification as they confidently retracted their brand out of the mud,...like a true soldier! And as far as you stating on other parties "making it right" ,...I don't recall hearing a sincere apology from yourself to your viewers and more importantly to Luminox. As my dear grandma Virginia used to say,..." it's never too late to make it right son" God bless America,... and God bless you too Joe .

I can understand giving Luminox an apology but that was done privately and I showed my apology by taking down my video about why I wouldn’t buy another Luminox and admitting I was wrong about Luminox. I've been looking to get a new watch. Been a fan of luminox for years. I've just been a little skittish spending that much on a watch. After this video first it was on you for buying the watch not luminox. I am "EXTREMELY IMPRESSED" with their customer service. I was struggling trying to choose between citizen and luminox. I JUST MADE MY DECISION!! Customer service can make or brake a company. Luminox has went far beyond that. If anyone has any idea on the best place to buy the particular model he just reviewed without the risk of Chinese knock off please let me know, or should I just order direct from the factory to be safe and guarantee I get the real thing.

It's a pity Luminox don't treat their genuine customers the same, have a problem with your watch ? they take forever to answer. Their customer service, in my experience anyway, is terrible.

I dunno. I just received a Commando Raider. Cool looking watch but I'm returning it. I've got a lot of watches. Autos and quartz. This one just didn't seem right. Almost as if the movement was loose inside the case. Impossible to adjust the time, GMT, Date without moving the rest of the hands. GMT ran slow also. When trying to adjust the GMT it moved the hour hand too. And the second hand just kinda did its own thing. Sometimes it lined up with the hash marks and sometimes it didn't. So much for quality Rhonda movements

I own 5 Luminox watches starting with the Original Seal Watch (3001) and most recently the exact same Chronograph 3580 being reviewed here. Coincidentally I also own the Sentry which is supposedly a fake as mentioned in this video. I bought all my Luminox watches from long time authorised dealer shops (15 and 20 years or more in business). I looked at my own Sentry and what Avg Joe has and I have to say - his Sentry looks legitimate. From the markings on the underside of the rubber strap, the design of the crown, the same plastic look of the case and click sounds of the rotating bezel. I couldn't find any sign to say Joe's watch was a fake. Anyway... just saying btw Joe. Nice Breitling Blackbird! I have that watch too :)

Step one to see if it’s fake should have been to take the back off and look at the movement, comparing the material used for the case based on touch and look between two different models and one of them being a much older model that is in fact even discontinued is just ridiculous. I’m glad the company took care of you… but it probably done because the watch is real.

@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I only think it might be real because years ago I bought a luminox after wanting one for years, bought from a authorized dealer… and it was a dud and in about a year and half of wear it died, the second hand kept sticking so I went back to the dealer and they “fixed” it and 2 weeks later it started again. So I was going back to the dealer and on the drive over I had the watch in my center console on my car and when I picked it up I dropped it from maybe 2 feet back onto the console and the pip cracked a long with a part of the mineral glass they use… unbelievably weak IMO… but because of that I was told to pound sand by the dealer and when I called luminox them self to see what options I had seeing how it is documented the watch had problems before the drop. Then luminox customer service told me to kick rocks they would do nothing for me. They advertise these things has rugged and as navy seal watches and all… so that was my first and last luminox. Because of my experience with them I was surprised you actually got taken care of because they could have not cared less about my problems. But again I’m glad you got a watch you like out of it.

Hi, I bought a 3050/3950 about 2 years ago from a different seller. I think mine is real based on your tips, however it did get severely scratched on the mineral crystal face when I was mountain bike training & took a spill, will try to link a pic. I know sapphire is the best (I have Rolex Sub). I see some vids about upgrading this one to sapphire, you know any more about that? froggy thanks for watching. You could totally swap out the mineral crystal for a sapphire. Not sure it’s something I’d try personally but well worth the upgrade. It’s definitely a knock I have against the watches.

Luminox 200M depth; face 100M depth. I have had two of the 3000 series, one marked NAVY SEAL. DO NOT wear the SEAL watch around military people. There is no good outcome for the wearer of the SEAL watch. My butt is still red and sore.

China is getting very good at replicating just about everything using laser technology to copy dimensions. Where they will cheap out on is like you’ve shown is the casing material. I would suspect the movement to be a very cheap one if you were a watch repair pro to disassemble it you would find out it probably is a cheap electronic movement. I would also suspect the fake Luminox’s accuracy is most likely off. Ebay is notorious for allowing the sale of fake items as well as Amazon. When buying name brand watches it’s just best to buy from authorized dealers or reputable established second hand stores that actually authenticate the watch. Companies like “The Real Real” who I’ve purchased through. Same for resellers of name brand sneakers like StockX because some sneakers can be valued in the thousand dollar ranges.
