Dave Grohl is great but pretty exclusively a radio rock musician. This Joel dude is writing some incredibly diverse and technically creative music with all kinds of dynamic (including clean and harsh vox) and I completely agree with Johnny that Joel is far more talented. Not that it's really a fair comparison to begin with. Also, been watching you two since the OG Nathan channel. You're some of my favourites, keep it up!

Uhhh...I agree with Johnny. More talented than Dave Grohl. Listen, rock bands today tend to rely too much on the 'old school' approach to recording music. Analog amps, same song structure, single track vocals, basic drum pattern with fills occasionally, etc. Metal musicians today have, in my humble opinion, a better ear for what is going to make a song be more excellent and have more 'dynamics' than a typical rock song. More guitar tonality via amp processors, lower tunings, syncopated drums that bridge off into something random usually, multiple guitar layers during key parts of songs, layered vocals, odd song structure (like this song or for example, ABR), etc. Dave Grohl is a very talented musician and song writer, and he has had great success doing that...but by writing radio friendly songs.

this guy gives me as you said, thornhill vibes, but i'm also feeling some older ocean grove in the cleans during the chorus, sick stuff though, also Dave Grohl is a leg end don't taint the mans name haha!

Hot take, I totally agree that this guy is way more talented then Dave Grohl (I don't recall the spelling of his last name) Using the argument of him being in 3 of the top rock bands of the last 20 years isn't a good argument at all. That's not to say he's not talented, he is of course, but popularity doesn't equate to being more talented. What this guy from Aviana is doing is far more musically diverse and complex then anything from Dave Grohl, objectively speaking, he's got way more range and musical skill in composition. He is 100% more talented.
