As my local air museum, the City of Norwich Aviation Museum is easy to reach from the international airport.
Despite being fairly small compared to the likes of Duxford or Hendon, this collection holds an impressive line up of aircraft, including an Avro Vulcan and a British Aerospace Nimrod.
Norfolk's history of aviation is well documented here in the various display halls and from the aircraft that are preserved.
In this video I take a look at what the museum has to offer, along with revealing where some of the airliners went during the pandemic lockdown that were no longer needed for their normal routes.

Thanks from the other side of the planet! Same with the historical ruins I visit - better to see something left than nothing at all 😊

The museum is expanding a bit too at the moment with some other collections being brought in to Norwich!

I visited in 1992, as a student at UEA, staying at the converted RAF Horsham St. Faith barracks (Fifers Lane) used then as student accommodation, but since sadly demolished for a new housing estate. The museum was fascinating, especially the exhibits relating to Horsham, including many WW2 and Cold War era photos of the very buildings we students were living in. Really glad to see it's still going, and indeed seems to have grown quite a bit since then.

The entry fee has probably changed a bit but they do indeed have quite a few more additions since then! 😄

If ever you need to travel to the city, always a good excuse for popping in to see the planes! 😄

Dan, I loved your video. I'm a Horsham St. Faith resident and a museum member, and a KZfaq video poster myself. I enjoyed your images, the detail and history of exhibits . . you put me to shame. As an OCD sufferer, I must correct you that the Jag-on-a-plinth is at the Norfolk County Council car park/building and not the Norwich City Council. I now shamefully await your own corrections on anything I've written or posted myself. You've posted a really good video here chap. Thank you.

Thank you for your comment! I knew I was going to pick the wrong one between City Council and County Council buildings! You've got a new subscriber too now, always love to see places around our home county of Norfolk

@TravelDan I've been to Cosford and Duxford which are amazing, but I also love my local Aircraft Museum in Sunderland too, some really cool planes there 😃

@@stewsretroreviews as long as there is at least one aircraft there, it is worth going in my opinion 😄 Never been to the Sunderland aviation museum before so will have to make a stop there one day!

Nice, didn't notice that as I walked around! I build model aircraft as a hobby, so that one would be quite a bit bigger than anything I've painted up before!
