I have to say, it sure looks like you guys have come a long way since the very first design of this machine. This appears to be much more rigid, and much easier to assemble. You guys continue to impress me ;-)

I can just tell by watching the build video that the machine is rigid. Your team has really created an amazing CNC for the market. I was thinking about adding another CNC to my shop and I am thinking your 2'x3' benchtop will be it.

Really wish I could work with one of these units. On my KZfaq channel, I like to build custom props, brackets, rigs, etc. for my job (I work in the photography/film industry). I’ve got a Shapeoko 3 XXL but been upgrading it relentlessly to cut aluminum, and ultimately just thinking I should have gotten one of these pro4848’s from the get go... it looks FANTASTIC, and I would do anything to go back and just buy one. I just don’t have the funds after working on the current CNC the past 4 months :(. Would love to work with you guys in the future if you do affiliate marketing or sponsorships

Are the nema 23 motors in this machine different from the nema 23 motors in the x carve and shapeoko? I am wondering because the motors for this model aren't included, and the cost of the motors for this is nearly what the entire x carve and shapeoko cost with motors included?
@AvidCNC
@AvidCNC 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, good question. Not all Nema 23 motors are created equal. The Nema 23 designtation is mainly used for the dimensional size of the motor and mounting holes. There are a variety of manufactures who use different specifications for Oz/inch, inductance, motor shaft, and the gauge of the wires in the internal coils.

I'd like to confirm part numbers or components used for this build. Looks like $6,500 total... I'm wondering why the spindle control is $1,600.. Seems awful high for a spindle.. If purchased for a standard router can the 2.2kw spindle be upgraded later?

@@georgeowen2083 Depends on your use case. A bench mill rarely has the working surface this has. Moreover the spindle speed on a bench mill is typically designed for working with ferrous metals and as such has much lower rpms making it harder to work with things like aluminum or other softer metals. I should point out that since my original comment I have managed to get enough cash together for a machine like this (different brand mind you) and I must say there would be no way for me to do what I need to do on a bench mill. In fact at some point I will probably own both (bit low on space now).
