GUESS I'VE BEEN LUCKY AS FAR AS DEATH, ONLY HAD TWO FRIENDS DIE, THAT I WASN'T THAT CLOSE TO, ONE IN HIGH SCHOOL FROM DRUNK DRIVING, AND THE OTHER THE GREAT BRITISH JAZZ EXPORT VICTOR FELDMAN, (PIANO / VIBES) WHO I KNEW FROM WORKING IN THE RECORDING STUDIO TOGETHER, THE ONLY OTHERS WERE DYING FOR YEARS, LIKE MY GRANDPARENTS, WHO WERE VERY OLD, AND EXPECTED TO DIE, 3 OF WHICH IN THEIR 90's, AND THE LAST OF THE 4, MY MOTHER'S FATHER, DIED LAST SUMMER, 2 WEEKS FROM TURNING 99, AND MY OTHER GRANDFATHER DIED A FEW YEARS BACK, AT 101.5.
SO TO THIS DAY THE MOST TRAUMATIC DEATH IN MY LIFE WAS SOMEONE I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW, BUT HAD GREAT RESPECT AND ADMIRATION FOR, IT'S ALWAYS MORE DEVASTATING WHEN SOMEONE DIES YOUNG AND UNEXPECTED, LIKE SERGEI GRINKOV, HALF OF MY FAVORITE FIGURE SKATING PAIR TEAM, AND PAIRS IS MY FAVORITE DISCIPLINE OF THE SKATING ARTS....SUCH A CRUMMY DEAL, THAT HE HAD TO DIE IN HIS 20's, BUT I WOULD HAVE MADE THE SAME DEAL TO BE WITH KATIA........
AND ISN'T THAT WHAT EVERYONE WANTS IN THIS LIFE, TO HAVE A PARTNER LOOK AT YOU THE WAY KATIA LOOKED AT SERGEI.........HE MUST HAVE BEEN A PRETTY FORMIDABLE DUDE TO GET THE PRETTIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD (WHO COULD HAVE ANY GUY SHE WANTS) TO LOOK AT HIM THAT WAY !!!
NOTHING IN THIS LIFE BETTER THAN QUADRUPLE "G" - GERSHWIN by GRUSIN ~ GORDEEVA & GRINKOV !!!

The way they looked at each other and the way Sergei would hold Katia was magical. Their love was truly special, rare and timeless. Their skating was breathtaking, they floated on air. I can watch them forever. In my opinion, they are the greatest pairs' skaters ever. To this day, my heart breaks and cries for Katia and Daria. Sergei had a beautiful soul and smile, it was infectious, and he was handsome. He loved life, loved to laugh and skate, had many friends and was the kind of husband and father anyone would want, all loving and doting. I don't understand how life could deal them such a cruel twist of fate and take Sergei away from them at such an early age. It is so unfair, this should never have happened!! They should have been given the chance to live a long, happy and loving life together. Sergei is forever with them both and watching over them and even though Katia has moved on with her life, I know that one day Katia and Sergei will be reunited once again in their love for eternity.

I honestly cried watching this, is poetry in motion. Fluid. Majestic. Elegance itself. Magical. Goodness is silence like they are floating on air. Ethereal and infinity beauty. I love watching skating but never seen this chemistry with other pair. Sublime love made a couple.

I love how they stare into each other's eyes. They skate in perfect harmony because of their obviously perfect passion, soul, and energy connection. Without it, such smooth perfection is impossible.

Stunning couple Sergie so tall and handsome Katia so petite and beautiful. Worlds best skaters ever. So tragic his life ended so tragically and so quickly. He at least passed away on the ice with Katia beside him that is some consolation but still devastating and heartbreaking 28yrs on. 💔😢💋 Sadly missed World Wide. I do hope they will erect a staute of them that would be wonderful.

These two were the best ever. I was so sadden when I heard he had died. They both had a beautiful baby, and now she is grown up and skating like her parents. Perhaps no medals in her life, but she had the most beautiful parents inside and out. I wonder what she and her mother are doing now?
