I have long wondered what shclappen is or what it's used for. Basically it's just a really long soft hackle from what this video shows

You betcha! This fly is an all around great. It is imitating a baitfish. A likely prey for many predatorial fish. Let us know how it does for you!

Nice tie & zonker. It's a pity though that you advocate the use of lead wire which pollutes our fishing environment!
