Very poor sound on my new Avin headunit.

Had the same issue yesterday with the Unit I just bought. Sound on regular radio and no sound on the Android side. Had to connect the Extra Aux that came in the box to the the Aux in the Arm rest of my E70 X5 and the already attached aux plug (not the yellow). That worked for me. Problem is, AVIN send NOO instructions, and have NOO customer service expect posts. For $400...you need to do better than that. I'm on my 4th AVIN...and won't purchase from them again. Could have gotten a double din pioneer and a Metra Install kit...would have been cheaper...and much better sound.

I had the same issue but the tech from 4x4 shop ca help me solve it. There is a connector on the harness cable with a box you need to connect the male and female together and that will solve your issue I wish I could show you to show you to you but my car is already hooked up but I have the same issue before and it's all beautiful now

I came across your post because I just installed the Avin USA unit and ran into the same issue. I used headphones to connect to the Avon audio output and validated it didn’t have sound output at all. Did you ever find a solution?

I have a similar problem in an f20 without the original screen and I can't figure it out anymore

You probably have this figured out by now however.... just curious, I know there's a level adjust for the AUX input in the stock settings. Could that be the issue?

There are 2 volume settings on the Avin Unit. Sound volume in settings (The 1 u adjusted in ur video) & master Volume. My sound volume in settings is set to 30. Max is 40. Access the master volume by swiping down from top of the screen. Like u would to get notifications on ur phone. Master Volume can be adjusted there. hope this works for You

Solved it for mine. You NEED to swap the two fibre optic cables on the original harness into the new one. They easily clip out and snap into the new harness. Mine were the two big green cables. And after that android uses the 8 button shortcut to control aux audio so make sure you slave that to aux. Mine was Absolute Radio and switched to that every time I turned on the android player. Hope this helps. Will upload a video and pics when mine is fully finished.

@@timbozyuk Now that I saw the guide...I have already done that. I think the issue I am having is because of the RSE ... Because of that the audio signal is spliced and causing it to sound bad. I have not seen many issues unless you have the rear seat entertainment like I do.

I have 2011 x5d CIC just installed AVIN running into hassle that’s no sound out. If key in inigtion (not running) I have decent sound from android and idrive without connect to Aux from armrest. BUT once I startup the car (running) I have no sound from android but does have sound from idrive. Every thing working perfectly no hit Cup. Just sound issue only. Did you figure out how to fix this?????

I've had this problem my car Bmw X1 E84 20d LCI 2013, When push start lighting on (not running) sound come out and can switch music player between Android AUX/Original Head unit every think work, After that when push start engine (running) sound from Android player is quite/Original Head unit working. I solved by push start engine one time, sound come out normally.

@@biturbos4 I fixed my issue, if you dont have an AUX in your call, you will have to install it manually and then code it. It worked for me, let me know if you have any questions

guess I'm fortunate. I don't have to plug the AUX in and i have good, clean, loud sound. My only 2sgripes are: 1. The "SELECT" button (push down) on iDrive doesn't"t work in CarPlay. It did on the 4.4 Lemon of a unit i had 1st. 2. My iPhone X won't charge. CarPlay connects & plays but keep getting the accessory not supported error message. Will be upgrading to the 8.1 OREO. unit next week

@Andrew Ball Yeah i bought one Avin and could never get anyone on the phone. I have no sound output what so ever , just static noise .

biturbos4 have you have the opportunity to install the new unit? I have the exact same setup as you (2009 x5 with rear seat entertainment) and would like to purchase one of these units, but the sound issues still have me on the fence.

The problem with sound is that the android unit sends all sounds to your aux port in your console via 2.5mm headphone connectors which really isn't the best way to do this if you are looking for premium sounds. I don't use the android side for music and only use the stock side for that. I just use the android side for apps and stuff. Even using a headphone jack filter I get alot of noise through the aux port when selected and nothing is playing if I try to use the android port. There is also the issue of the AVIN unit switching back to your phone via bluetooth on its own so you dont get any sound because its no longer on the aux port. Avin support has done or said nothing about this. It took me 5 emails and a phone call to even get the right installation instructions as the Android 7.1 model doesn't use the center speaker connections that were in the 4.4 guide. Overall the unit looks great but really lacks in performance and sound quality and is somewhat buggy. Also Bluetooth only seems to work for phones so dont think you can connect your tuner via bluetooth or you will be disappointed like I was. Oh one more thing the center console screen thing they have only shows in metric values and AVIN of course has no updates on it.
