I work in optics and I can confirm what Dr is saying is straight up facts!

If you rinse with only warm water the debris will not rinse off and if you use the cloth made for classes can still scratch the lense I use a small amount of dawn dish soap after rinsing and rub lightly with my fingers. Not only the debris come off but oils from finger prints too

Finally someone that gives out correct advise. I hate when people say to use soap or alcohol to clean glasses, it DESTROYS the coating on the lenses!

There are many different types of microfiber cloths and some are a little bit scratchy so it has to be specifically a cloth meant for cleaning glasses

I use a tiny amount of dish liquid… make sure you rinse well and a clean old t shirt to dry…. Never a problem!

It is said Pledge will make scratches less noticeable. Use a soft cloth.

I get the washing part but what about the algae that gets stuck between the frames? 😢 (I don't wanna mess with my lens by pushing it in and out, myself)

I use a laundry steamer to "refresh" my curly hair in the morning so the steamer is always in the bathroom. I use the steam as well for cleaning my glasses and the mirrors. 😇

HandWash microfibre cloth from time to time in your sink, or get new one, dirt on cloth will scratch glasses! Per my eye dr.

Ive been using liquid hand soap, and remove it with water. Works like a charm. It damages nothing.

Actually, I've found that the coating starts to peel away after about three years even with just water and a very soft cloth. Planned obsolescence?

yeah, I wish I would’ve known this a few years ago because I feel like the vinegar and Windex I used on my glasses, took off some of the coating.

In order for that micro fabric to work is to have clean hands otherwise the oil from hands gets on the fabric and smears the lens. I think the best way is the wipes.

Baby Shampoo is the Best to clean your glasses.., you will love it!👌🏼 just one drop is enough ☝🏼

From my experience (lifelong eyeglasses), the lens wipes from Walmart optical department are the best.

I use sand papers. Work all the time.

For over three years I have cleaned my glasses first with warm running water, Dawn power wash, rub the lenses between my fingers, rinse in warm water and dry them with the same micro fiber towel that I wash about every two weeks. Not a single scratch on either lens.

Just here to say I completely agree!! I use the Koala Clean kit from Amazon (it comes with little microfiber cloths & is amazing) 🤓

I only use ultra pure distilled water to wash my lenses because regular water can leave a residue in the crevices of frames over time. After washing and air drying I use one time use Zeiss or Kobayashi lens cleaning wipes since microfiber cloths can also harbor microscopic pieces of sand or debris which can also scratch the lenses over time.

I'm never getting that "optional" pay extra anti-glare junk again on my glasses....it ruined them. Saw some videos on how to take that dumb stuff off, and it did, but the optometrist should tell you that heat causes the crazing. I only wear them to drive at night so they stay in the car...where it's very hot in summer. 😢

and even better yet, consult Dr. Christopher regarding how to heal your eyes naturally, like I did, so I could just toss those glasses!!!! 😊

I was an optician for ten years and I had so many people come in with glasses so scratched they could barely see through them. I asked one person how they were cleaning them and they said I'm just using Simple Green so I don't understand what happened. Well, you practically tried to melt your lenses.

It's 2024. If your eyeglass lense coating is easily damaged, it's by design. I' recently removed the gorilla glass screen off of a 7 year old phone that has been in hundreds of pockets, dropped on the ground countless times and slid all over the inside of my truck on a daily basis. That 7 year old slab of gorilla glass was more optically perfect than the lenses in a 3 month old pair of eye glasses.

im using dishwashing liquid to clean my eyeglasses. then wipe it off by face tissue. no scratches for 2 years 👌🏻

What about paper towel for plastic. I was told it’s ok. I think glasses are stronger. Therefore will scratch plastic as well!

I work body wash or baby shampoo into my glasses and into the frames. Rinse and shake them off. The shower head will rinse the oils out of the frame and I will dry them off with my fresh cotton T-shirt. You will find that your glasses are easier to clean from day to day.

this doc can always make whatever he explains feel so intense xD but eh, you always use water? I get annoyed with the smallest specks of skin or dust or whatever have you and so i clean them all the time and it drives me nuts. but even worse is when the microfiber cloth starts leaving smudges. I prefer wearing contacts because glasses are a pain... but cant wear contacts too much either because thats just not good for my eyes. >.

Good info - i clean my glasses 1-2x/day.

I simply wet the glasses a bit of shampoo and my two fingers glide over it a bit. Then I just adjust the water pressure just right so it washes it all off without leaving water marks and then I just put towel or toilet paper on the bottom of the glasses. Incredibly fast, easy and convenient imo

There is Lens Cleaner, agree microfiber is best.

Zeiss makes pre-moistened, alcohol based towelette that’s individually packed. Best way to clean glasses that I’ve found.

Here's how i do it and works. First water, then dishwasher soap, then hot water and blow the water droplets off. That's it. You don't have to even wipe them.
