We won’t get Whole Foods or sidewalks until we get a county commission interested in doing what is required to raise the median income

I've lived in Douglas County for over 20 years. Don't care about a Whole foods Don't care about the traffic on 20, I'm used to it Don't care about bike lines or sidewalks Never wanted the movie studio.

I agree, been in Douglas County for 10 years now. Every interstate in ATL is congested going into downtown. I love Wholefoods, but not a dealbreaker. The bike lanes and sidewalks are coming slowly, I see projects in progress. Not enough to discourage me from Douglasville, I love it. Thanks for your commentary.

1- I don’t shop @ Whole Foods,, I’m a straight Walmart / Publix man…😅😮 2- born & raised in New York, now in Miami / Fort Lauderdale- I think I seen the worst of the worse between those two cities for driving… 😂 3- ehhh, I’ll try to do my walking / biking in the parks?? 😮 4- hopefully when I make that move I’d not have to deal with anything industrial… But in all honesty thanks for yet another great informative video 👸🏾…I’ll keep my eyes open still for sure.. 🙏🏾

They got rid of The Grind and Sparkles, and the skate area in deer lick park has been practically abandoned by the park and isnt very safe at all (rusted, missing guardrails, etc.) I just wish we had SOMETHING for the skaters out here
@DestinationDouglasville
@DestinationDouglasville 5 ай бұрын
I'm not a skater but it didn't look bad to me, I did a short a year or so ago. kzfaq.info1M1Rqu8TJvY?feature=share I am all for kids getting out and doing more activities. However this is something to bring up to your commissioner or parks and rec. We have to advocate for the things we want in our county. Thanks for sharing

Former owner of The Grind here. We showed up strong to the county meeting for planning Deerlick park. In fact, we were pretty much the only group there. The county said they would take our suggestions into consideration but still haven’t seen any improvement to the skatepark at Deerlick. They remove ramps that are damaged but don’t replace them. The park NEEDS a complete overhaul like Newnan or Birmingham. Newline did an amazing job with the design and building of those parks. They were carefully throughout and actually used the input from the local skaters. It wasn’t just given to the lowest bidder. They got the best crew for the job. As a lifelong skater, 38 years skating, I can say we are always overlooked when it comes to having a space to practice. We don’t have leagues so the county doesn’t see those dollars, however we do spend a ton at local shops and restaurants to wherever we visit. Lord knows, Newnan has received a chunk of my money because we stop to eat at the local restaurants near the park every time we go. The only improvements we’ve seen at the park are the very things we DIY’d there. I would like to see the county be more proactive with real improvements to the parks.

Why would “not having a Whole Foods” be a No.1 deal breaker? I promise theirs more people who don’t consider that than people that do. Dville is lower to middle class & still developing into a proper Atl suburb anyway. It will grow though

I’m a new subscriber and I love your page! I’ve lived in Dville for the past 30 years. Couple of questions: Who is moving into that big warehouse on Hwy 92 going toward Fulton County? Also, what are they building next to Racetrac at Hwy 92 and Lee Rd?
@DestinationDouglasville

I am not sure what will be in that warehouse, but for the Lee Rd. I think that is all part of the studio but I will double check. The studio will have restaurants, hotels, etc.

Thank you for watching. It really depends on what you are looking for and you need to be close to the city of Atlanta. I lived in Dallas, GA for many years - went to high school there. It is in Paulding County - Nice area, main drawback to Dallas is that it is not close to a major interestate. I recommend this channel...she compares a lot of areas so she would be a great agent to reach out to if you are trying to decide. - www.youtube.com/@MovingtoAtlanta-LaurinaRealtor/videos

Thanks for discouraging people from moving here. I've lived in Douglasville since 1998, and live 5 blocks from the mall in Arbor Station. I love it here. This has proved to be the best place I've ever lived and I've moved 34 times in my life. But Douglasville isn't for everyone, so stay away. The weather is nice, the people are wonderful, the city and county are forward looking and planning, the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development folks are extremely intelligent in the way they do things . . . heck, this is a historic little railroad town that just had a major encounter with a lady who almost won American Idol. There are a lot of talented friendly people here. Crime is low, Forward looking people are high, and we don't give one damn about Whole Foods. Who would ever care? Aldi, Krogers, Publix, and several other stores are great resources. People love it here. It's hard to find housing because it is mostly all taken, if you ask any realtor here. Yes, traffic is a problem at times coming to and from Atlanta areas, but here, inside our borders, traffic just works OK. This is a great place to live and work. But forget I said that. We have enough people here.

Lived here my whole life it’s a small town with nothing to do but arbor place mall, thunderzone, and the occasional fair when it comes to town. Not a suitable place for young people that’s why when I was growing up a lot of teens found themselves in trouble.

There is nothing wrong with city planning for the future. Sidewalks are a basic necessity for people who catch the bus. Some young kids have to walk on busy roadway (Riverside near the trailer park). My ❤ breaks when I see them. Too many dollar stores, car washes, fast food, and waffle houses. Continuity in building codes and signs would make it appear we have a plan for the city. 😮

Douglas county commissioner came and spoke with our community and spoke about the many changes. Walking trails, businesses, restaurants, stores, etc about 6 mths ago. Ive been here for 12 years. These changes were in place years ago but put on hold due to covid so all that's going on is something that was already in the making. The county is growing and a great place to live.
