/kloʊ(ð)z/ is the pronounciation of clothes according to a dictionary that I use. Perhaps, the parenthesis means that the sound is omitted by some or many speakers.

As a verb or a noun, "address" is always correct to pronounce with the second syllable stressed. With that being said, as a noun, "address" can also be pronounced by some American people with the first syllable stressed.

I watch Venya Pak and Mogilko, people from Russia and other neighboring countries think they are great professionals. Many Russian people think that Venya Pak is a Russian American. He speaks like a real Californian. As for Mogilko, they think she has a British accent and is a good person and businesswoman. I'm not judging them, just saying. Even the English teachers from Russia put them in high places, especially Venya. We also love Bebris, think he's brilliant, a good English teacher. Could you tell us about his pronunciation, I don't think he has an American accent, there are many different accents.
@artemlyubchenko3022
@artemlyubchenko3022 11 ай бұрын
Mogilko definitely doesn't speak with a British accent, it's an American accent with a touch of Russian I would say. Also there are tons of videos on this channel about her mistakes, one of which is over 2 hours long, and some of which are just beginner level mistakes like using the plural form of the verb instead of the singular, so I don't think you should watch her too much. It will benefit you much more to learn from actual native speakers, than to learn incorrect English and have to relearn it after.

I like you guys teaching us so much but I'm such a curious guy to know if you had ever studied Latin, Greek, Spanish or Italian languages and compared them to English (French less than Spanish and Italian, but still pretty easier than English)... I've often heard Americans bullying us about our pronunciation... I was curious to know if native English speakers realize how English is an inconsistent language compared to Latin origin languages, except for French, we never have silent letters, and we never change the sounds of our vowels or our consonants, the rules of pronunciation are always consistent... the more I study English the more I find it very crazy..... each time I met a new word, to me it seems a lottery to guess the correct pronunciation, especially because the rules are never coherent like our native languages, that's why we struggle so much to pronounce everything so easily and properly. Thank you so much to understand me, and always congratulations 😘

That's because English is the Monster of Frankenstein of languages. It's like putting French, German and Latin in a blender and accepting the result without adapting the grammatical rules.

@@fredylopez2477 So you say that it works with specific words and phrases as an exception and not always as a general rule, right? You say that for "Southside" the pronunciation becomes "Souzside". Also the IPA of the plural form of the word "mouth" is /maʊðz/, so are you sure that it could be pronounced as "mouzs"?

Game is an incorrect example. In fact, English doesn't have a single letter that sounds like the Russian "e", so its often transliterated as "ie" or "ye". "Armienia" or "Armyeniya" - that's how I would explain this to those who learn Russian.
